Hmm no Trayvon Mullen either. Wonder can we put the press on him. I know early on he liked us.

Bone's article is free again

Williams talks Alabama commitment
Andrew Bone
TideSports.com Senior Recruiting Analyst

Quinnen Williams, three-star defensive tackle from Wenonah High School in Birmingham, Ala., committed to the University of Alabama on Tuesday morning. The former Auburn commitment becomes commitment No.17 in the Crimson Tide's 2016 class.

Williams is the fourth defensive line commitment in Alabama's class joining Kendell Jones, Rivals100 defensive tackle from Shoemaker High School in Killeen, Texas, Khalid Kareem, four-star defensive end from Harrison High School in Farmington Hills, Mich., and Raekwon Davis, three-star defensive tackle from Meridian High School in Miss. Alabama is adding plenty of size to the defensive front which is expected to lose several key contributors after the 2015 season to graduation and early entry to the NFL.

"I committed to Alabama because Alabama is a great school," said Williams. "They have a great academic and great athletic program. It's the place where I feel like I can develop my game in the next four years, and will help me become a better man in life.

"When I first committed to Auburn I committed as a fan instead of looking at it as a student-athlete. I grew up a diehard Auburn fan. Auburn was my dream offer. When I got the offer I decided to go ahead and commit. I really didn't look at it from a student-athlete standpoint.

"Alabama was really the best fit for me. They can help develop as a player and as a man. I just committed too quick. I decided to re-open my recruitment and take a look at everything."

Williams does not plan on second guessing his commitment to the Crimson Tide.

"I am done with the recruiting process," he said. "I am not going on any more college visits. I am very relieved with my decision. I just want to focus on my senior season, build my body up and get ready to go to Alabama.

"I knew I was going to Alabama after I went down there for the camp. I knew it's where I wanted to be. I know they can help me be great in life, in the classroom and in the neighborhood."

The in-state prospect developed a great bond with ace recruiter Mario Cristobal and defensive line coach Bo Davis throughout the recruiting process.

"I called Coach Cristobal and told him about my decision last night," said Williams. "He was very excited. He was the one who recruited me. He helped me understand the recruiting process. He came down here and saw me. He talked to me about everything.

"I really love Coach Bo Davis. He is a great guy. Coach Crisotbal is very humble. Coach Saban is real down to earth and humble. He pushes kids to work hard on the football field, in the classroom and in life."

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound lineman accounted for 85 tackles in 2014, 15 sacks and five forced fumbles. He is ranked the No.39 defensive tackle in the country by Rivals.com.

"My strengths as a player are my hands and the mental part of the game," he said. "I want to get faster. It's something i am really working on this off-season.

"I was recruited to play defensive end. I feel like I fit in really well at Alabama. They have a very good background with defensive ends. They have Da'Shawn Hand there now. I am really cool with him."

So basically they're getting everybody. How do we wind up being the only power school in the South that has moderators that don't predict we sign everybody? In fairness, I guess he did leave out Lawrence. IMO, they have a better shot at Lawrence than White and Manuel unless something MAJOR has changed in recent weeks. We have our hooks in White pretty deep. Maybe it has changed. Who knows? I've heard no recent updates from the guy I trust on Louisiana guys (knows the coaches/boosters down there).

Manuel will flirt heavily with LSU before signing with FSU. Just my take.

Somewhat off topic, but I was reading Chris Walsh's blog today about APR scores versus actual graduation rates.

Here they are:

quote:

NCAA’s Graduation Success Rate
1. Texas-San Antonio
2. Stanford
3. Northwestern
4. Rice
5. Notre Dame
6. Air Force
7. Boston College
8. Northern Illinois
9. Central Florida
10. Wake Forest
11. UCLA
12. Army
13. Penn State
14. Miami
15. Utah State
16. Boise State
17. Tulane
18. Rutgers
19. TCU
20. Clemson
21. Florida
22. Nebraska
23. Alabama
24. Temple
25. Navy

Surprising that Alabama and Florida are the only two SEC programs in the top 25 for graduation success. Here is a link if you want to read more about it LINK

Now, who is going to start the thread on tRant?

Some interesting CB picks:

Devin Bush Jr to Michigan.
Trayvon Mullen to FSU by Newberg.
Jawon Pass to UA from Tom Loy.

Damn man come on and quit calling people out just because they have a differing opinion than yours, I know Sand personally, so does Saint, he's got a unique view especially on Mississippi schools since he's from there. You might wanna cool it when attempting to attack some of the OGs of the Bama board because some of us might just snap back.

Nah but he snaps back every time someone even mentions his posts, or questions them, or anything else

He eventually admitted where he was getting the info after several other posters noticed the common theme

I'll tell you this, with Sand he has an advantage to the comebacks based on his chosen profession, that's why I said some of us might snap back

Steals come in many varieties. Uncovering a hidden or underrated gem. Swiping a prospect many deemed to be leaning elsewhere. Or even going into an area that traditionally a program doesn’t have great success in and landing a strong commit.

There’s been many, many “steals” of this variety nationally this cycle. Too many to name.

?Here’s a few highlights.

quote:

4. Jonah Williams, OL, Alabama - His dad is a Georgia booster. His mother went to Auburn. He’s the best offensive tackle on the West Coast. Yup that’s a steal in more ways than one. Kudos to Crimson Tide mega recruiter Mario Cristobal for making Williams a priority and landing a big-time talent despite the geography and family ties. Williams isn’t into media interviews or even playing in national all-star games. He’s old school in terms of just wanting to train and work so he can set himself up for early playing time in college.

This one may be of interest to some of you:

quote:

7. Velus Jones Jr., WR, USC - Outstanding junior film showcased by Jones’ ability to get open and make plays on every pattern in the route tree. Kudos to Trojans wide receivers coach Tee Martin to dip back into his native Mobile and swipe away the top receiver out of Alabama. Jones tore up the recent Rising Stars Camp at USC. The Trojans have two other out-of-state steals with last week’s four-star commits Cary Angeline and Keyshon Camp. Angeline was the bigger surprise as many expected him to stay on the East Coast, likely at Penn State. Camp favored USC going into his visit last week and chose USC over Oregon and Michigan.
