I'd say sending 12 teams to bowl season is pretty productive. That's just me, though.

That to me is a sign that the league is down. When the league is strongest, their are 4-5 teams that have 10+ wins, with two one loss or undefeated teams. Too many 6-6 or 7-5 type teams this year.

There also wasn't a single dominant team in the SEC this season. The rest of the country has caught up over the past two seasons. The Pac 12 was arguably better this year from top to bottom. The Big 12, in my opinion, has always been a little underrated in overall strength. The Big 10 is making strides in coaching and player talent, at least at the top.

The SEC still has elite talent, but I think we are seeing the tail end of a great run in coaching. Spurrier, Saban, and possibly Pinkel are in the twilight of their careers. Fans are becoming complacent with Miles and Richt. Vandy, Florida, and Arkansas have played musical chairs with coaches over the past 5 years. Butch Jones and Freeze seem to have their programs on the rise because they are good recruiters, but I don't particularly think they are great coaches. I'm uncertain about Mullen, Sumlin, and Malzahn, and Stoops will probably move on to a better job soon. The point is, there will be new blood and more stability in coaching ranks five years down the road, but until then, the college football landscape will be more balanced, which isn't a bad thing. Newton was the shite, until Einstein came along...
