Anyone saying any different is either trolling or don't know college football.

Personally, I've always thought Chavis was a fantastic DC until it came till the end of games.

This goes back to his days at Tennessee. LSU has two maybe three wins over Bama during his time with Miles if not for him.

They'll be like Arkansas this year. Finish last in the West but be competitive

cause they have ALWAYS been such a force.

I can see them turning into a Michigan. Purely a big name but just a shell of its former glory

There will still be the same 3 main competitors in the SECW despite LSU's potential slide, at least until proven otherwise.

But, they'll now have to deal with more consistent pressure from below, primarily in the form of A&M and Arkansas.

If we make the right hire we will be fine.

I'm just worried about recruiting mostly.

If we get someone who can improve third down defense, defense in late game situations, and come up with some blitz packages for the athletes we have spread out all over the defense I will be happy.

Fans of a true heavyweight like Bama or Aub or Fla, will largely agree(because you're not insecure), and see the obvious.

Many fans of Old Myth, Ark, TAM,etc..will project wrongly with their aspirations.

Running the D at LSU, the name changes, but the game remains the same, Dietzel, Cholly Mac, Arnsparger, Pete Jenkins, Saban, Muschamp, Pelini, Chavis,etc..

LSU will be fine..maybe even better. It's not like LSU won any natty titles with Chief.

This staff needed some shake-up, whether the HC, OC, DC,etc..the players need the jolt!

LSU still stacked and jacked, just no longer consistently dominant..will be in that 4 team playoff in near future.

The reason you're able to post this is that you're not worried about LSU. As long as Miles is around, LSU will feature a weak offense. As long as Saban is around, Alabama will feature a strong defense. At their best, LSU is probably the biggest threat do Bama. But The guy in the cap is putting a cap on LSU's success. This comes at a time when A&M is heavily investing on improving, Ark has turned it around, Auburn is more stable than years past and the Miss. schools are becoming more competent.

Speaking of Tennessee, I found this gem over on TD

"When Tennessee started their tDecline in the mid 2000's, Fulmer wasn't necessarily the main culprit. It was their AD, Mike Hamilton. He screwed up the firing and the subsequent hires and everything else you could possibly imagine.

Alleva could do a lot of damage if he's kept around too long..."

This melt is so awesome

No sugar coating it. This was a bad day for LSU. That does not make them out, but it is understandable them being down.

They already have 2 wins over Alabama during his tenure (2010, 2011), and the defense played well enough for LSU to win in 2009, 2012, 2014 and on 1/9/12. Before someone points out 2013, what happened to the LSU offense in the second half of that game? They tied the game then left their defense out to dry.

I agree, they will be and I think they will improve next year and be contending for a spot in the playoffs in 2-3 years. They're young, rich in talent and they will keep bringing them in. Chavis is a damn good DC but imo his best days are behind him. I think he'll improve the TAMU defense but that really isn't saying a whole lot
