I wonder how well the 3 bags of pot not belonging to anyone in the car excuse would work for non-football players.

How the frick does a 19ish year old not have a driver's license at any point in their life? What has he done for 4 years?
I do not know how it was where that kid comes from, but in the city I taught it was not uncommon for most kids to graduate high school without a driver's licence. Most of the kids did not have cars.

Some schools? Non students, adults and anyone who is charged with driving w/o a license arent jailed...so you obviously are not going to law school I take it. They are issued a citation....traffic violation man. Its dismissed when you show up in court with a new license. They do that for everyone.
Ummmm....bag of pot sitting next to them and the smell of pot in the car? Are people also released for that?

As for the small amount of weed and odor...cops have the discretion to not charge or issue a citation if multiple people are in car and there is no proof who possessed it. That happens all the time outside of campus life. Especially when car is owned by a another party not present.
I think you just made his point for him. MOST schools the players don't get the "discretion".

So.. moral of the story is -- drive someone else's car without a license while transporting pot and you can't get in trouble.

Never had a license? Lawds have mercy. I can understand driving on a suspended one that can happen without you knowing it because minor tickets may go to the wrong address etc. But this one is pretty dumb.
I'm surprised he escaped the marijuana charge tho - that wouldn't happen here -- not in Knoxville anyway. Doesn't matter whose car it is - if you're driving it you're charged with possession of it, and considered to be in possession of it, there's even a term for that (although right now the legal term escapes me). That said, we need to legalize that shite.
