Duke will challenge him.
There's a reason he was #1 on the college "freak list" in the preseason

Reminds me of Demaryius Thomas coming out. Luckily for Coates he probably falls to the back end of the first, meaning he'll have a good QB and likely get to step into the WR2 role and not be the main focus of attention for secondaries.

He is also expected to accept an invite to the Senior Bowl as a graduated Junior.

He'll be the 2nd receiver taken and in the first 20 picks. The guy is a beast.

I think Funchess or Kevin White probably goes second but Coates can make a case for it.

Duke doesn't have elite speed. He is a good route runner and has great hands, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him run 4.55 - 4.6 at the combine.

Great decision by Sammie in my opinion.

A little shorter(doesn't play smaller though), but looks like Stephen Hill. Strong blocker, physical freak, go route extraordinaire, and inconsistent hands. It's up to Coates to not end up like Hill, loads of talent. Learn a route tree and limit what he drops in the NFL.
Start off like Jermaine Kearse as deep ball specialist, but then continue to grow as a WR...

After his combine, he will be a first or second round take.
Jaelen Strong
Amari Cooper
Nelson Agholor
Sammie Coates
Tyler Lockett
Kevin White
Tony Lippett
Devante Parker
Will all probably go in the top two rounds.

Duke is gone too
He was one and done before he ever signed

We need to show that list to Duke, after a year with JJ and a weaker class he could be first round for sure

You are describing Kelvin Benjamin who still has those problems, but is fairing pretty well.
As long as he lands on a team with a decent QB, he'll be alright.

Duke is the type WR who plays as long as he feels like it. I know he is in a hurry, but he stands to have a long NFL career.

Hill is a much better comparison than Benjamin. Hill, like Coates, could fly. Coates is a more physical player than Hill though. Benjamin is a box out jump ball guy, he's not going to blow by anyone on a 9 route.

A big reason he is leaving is because he has already graduated.

Posters on the 247 board have been saying for weeks that Sammie is gone. Also been saying good chance Duke comes back for his senior year
