They did the "stay where you're ranked til you lose" bullshite in 2004. It ended with a 55-19 arse raping by USC. I'm glad they're not afraid to move teams around if they don't pass the smell test.

I agree with you FSU has been winning despite Jameis not because of him. When Jameis plays as well as he can, then they can beat every single team in the country, but unfortunately he has been playing pretty bad this year.
That being said, they still have the best kicker in college football, second best RB (Dalvin Cook is a monster), great WR corps, best TE in college football, one of the best DEs in football, and just a ridiculously talented defense at most spots. They are vulnerable in their pass blocking and their young DBs, but that's about it. They are as good as it gets in college football against the run and running the ball.

If you're FSU wouldn't you rather be ranked 4th and play Bama in New Orleans than 3rd and playing Oregon in Pasadena? It would be much more of neutral site game.

What does my being an LSU fan have anything to do with this conversation. Some of you are dumb.
I wouldn't care if I was a bama fan and we were #4. Still in the playoffs. Just saying the reigning champions from last year have been undefeated for 28 games in a row and have not been bested on the field unlike the rest of the top 4. Therefore they should be thought of as the best team in the country.
Put down the crimson sunglasses for a second. I know it's hard to do. But try it.

No you don't get it. We're supposed to get the 4 best teams -- not 3 teams and the one who deserves the best benefit of the doubt.

I agree with the OP. And the disrespect just provides more ammo for Jimbo to use as motivation.
Yeah, they've been playing with a chip on their shoulder since they got moved out of 1st
FSU sucks arse, why do people refuse to let it sink in?

Last year is, and should be, irrelevant.

I don't think it is just the narrow wins, it is more that they've consistently played like crap until they figured it was time to wake up.
Hopefully GT will make this whole question moot. Most hated team since Miami '80s. And hated for good reason.

Except that that's just a matter of opinion, and the OP is staing that if you've won 28 games in row, and are the defending national champions, you are the best team in his opinion.
That's a more valid opinion than, "Bama looks like the best team because I'm a Bama fan! Roll Tide! Derp."

FSU should be #1. Bama either 2 or 3, doesn't matter. This committee is really dumb. Remember, Bama was 5 for first three weeks and then magically #1. Makes no sense, defies logic.
Posted on 12/5/14 at 6:44 pm to Delacroix22
I'm no FSU fan either but I can remember people saying back in '92 that Bama was the worst undefeated team in the nation. All they did is win the NC. Some teams play up or down to the competition. When FSU feels like they are in danger of losing, they step up. They won't be easy to knock off.

FSU should be #1.
Why? If it is because they're the defending champs, then you don't understand how this works. If it is because they're undefeated, see BYU back when. They were often undefeated or nearly so but always ignored because their schedule sucked. I don't see the difference.
SOS for the current top 4 looks like this:
#4 Alabama
#11 TCU
#37 Oregon
#46 Florida St.
If anybody has a gripe it is TCU (and possibly #29 SOS Baylor, which will improve if they beat KSU.)
ETA: Actually now that I think about it, that's wrong re: Baylor. Their SOS will go down with a KSU win. But still better than Oregon or FSU.

I'll play. Undefeated in a conference that just went 4-0 against the best conference in the nation. Undefeated, defending national champs. Make someone knock them off the hill. Not a damn committee.

None of this should matter. Last year has nothing to do with this season. If a team performs better than them, then they should absolutely drop.

They have won games but it's the fashion in which they are winning them. I was at a the BC/FSU game & 1 or 2 play go different FSU gets beat by an unranked BC team in their own stadium. They are not a great football team. I'm thinking GT is going to beat their arse tomorrow.

I'd argue about whether they've ever been on a hill this year.
This seems odd coming from Bama fans. Do you guys want to all of a sudden be underdogs? That's not really your M.O., is it?

Unless it ends up being a copy of March Madness with 64+ teams in it, I don't see a good alternative. At some point you've got to have either humans or software picking unless you want to just throw out the regular season and start the tournament in November.

This is flawed thinking. It was basically the 4 best ACC teams vs 3 bad and 1 good SEC team. The only upset was GT over UGA. You had a ranked UL team barely beat a bad UK team, a ranked Clemson beat a bad USC, and a ranked FSU barely beat a bad UF team. That's not impressive.

We are never underdogs but what is different about this Bama team when we were #5 and now at #1. The undefeated team from a power five should be 1. It will all work out. If we are good enough we will win out.
