FSU deserves to be #1, and if Bama went undefeated, won a natty, and was the only undefeated team in the regular season, but wasn't ranked #1 in the country, I would be super fricking pissed.

The committee is definitely basing a hell of a lot of shite on the "eye test". I think TCU>Baylor, but wouldn't have the ego to rank TCU over Baylor.

It's like they feel their opinion as football "experts" >what happens on the field

This is fricking bullshite. The team tied for 4th in the ACC beat the team tied for 12th in the SEC. The team tied for 2nd in the ACC beat the team tied for 9th in the SEC. Big fricking deal. And you know it.

Not to mention, how are five defensive starters that graduated in 2013 defending anything?

Here's the thing...maybe FSU deserves to be #1, but if they do, it's because they're the best team. The whole "defending champions" and "the ACC went 4-0 against 1 good SEC team, 1 mediocre team, and 2 shitty teams" reasoning is just stupidity.

Honestly does it matter? 1-4 are completely interchangeable now a days. Might as well make them 1a - 1d. As long as you make that top 4 your rank is meaningless.

Well... yeah, sorta. But it's a lot closer to #5 from #4 than it is from #1.

The ACC has proven itself to be not necessarily god awful. It's certainly not the Sunbelt or Mountain West for sure. It has some solid teams at the top. GT, Clemson, and Louisville are certainly respectable foes at the least.

On top of that, FSU played not one, but TWO marquee non-conference games - NOT including their yearly rival with Florida. Sure, Oklahoma State is not what they typically are, but we're seperating two Big-12 teams on a Minnesota team OOC (which is ridiculous) and going so far as to say that criteria is more important than head-to-head (which is even more ridiculous). FSU's non-conference is heads and shoulders better than anybody else's in the Top 4. Three power 5, traditionally elite football programs. Their non-conference sched is an argument heavily in their favor.

Now, consider the fact that THEY HAVEN'T LOST and THEY HAVE THE REIGNING HEISMAN WINNER and I don't know how you can argue the "eye test." Hell, IMO they "look" like the most talented team in the country. Very talented teams can sometimes skate by because they are bored. They subconsciously must make it challenging. I liken them to a cat playing around with a mouse - letting it get just out of their reach before it pounces towards the mouse again, but not quite killing it. The mouse thinks its escaped, but certain death looms. If you follow recruiting at all, Jimbo has put together monster class after monster class.

I also believe that Jameis has a bit of a Micheal Jordan streak in him. The guy is just an unusually competitive person and he does not know how to lose. The team has taken on his persona.

It doesn't make any sense from any objective standpoint to have them below other teams who have a loss and have proven to have flaws.

If they weren't defending champions nobody would have a problem with it. They're playing closer games than 2012 Notre Dame.

Yep! Weird that I haven't seen this mentioned before, but that's a good point. Very similar seasons. I'm pulling for GT to put them out of our misery, but I know Bama fans would love to stomp all over them.

Personally I'm pulling for TCU and Baylor to both make it, so I can watch the world burn.

frick yes it matters

I'd much rather face the rapist in championship game, than in the semis. That dude spells trouble for Bama, and right now, FSU should be #1 and Bama should be #2. That being said, who do you think FSU would rather face in round 1? Bama or Oregon/Baylor/TCU/OSU?

Both Bama and FSU are screwed if the playoffs were right now.

Regardless of which service you use to find SOS, Oregon is well ahead of FSU, so yeah. But their position isn't anything to brag about.

#11 TCU vs. #46 FSU (depending on where you look).
