The UA system wants all the good parts of UAB (Med school, academic prowess) without having to throw a bone to the athletic department or for campus upgrades. UAB having a robust university is good for the state and Birmingham, but I guess UA is worried about losing fans and - more importantly - money. It's BS for sure.

My concern is that since they're shutting it down, if we don't get Muschamp, then Bill Clark's "availability" becomes a factor in his hiring.
