UAB's growth has been stunted. This is much bigger than football. The Honors Program is in jeopardy as well.
UAB is trying to transition to a more traditional campus. UA is trying to stop it.

Alabama wants credit and money from UABHS and the Med School. They want UAB to be insignificant. They hate the UAT reference.
This is also a pre-emotive strike to prevent autonomy by UAB. I hope this backfires and it is changed to the University of Birmingham. (Cincinnati, Louisville, Memphis).
I know that AUM students can buy student football tickets to Auburn, etc. It is treated as a system. Never heard of a single complaint from them.
