Gus Malzahn is the best coach in the country at adjusting his scheme to his players. Cam Newton was a bruising runner and pocket passer, so they had a power based run game and dynamic throwing game. Marshall just happened to be very agile and straight line fast but not as accurate/seasoned a passer, so he turned the offense into a run first based on speed and explosive passing. He'll adjust to his personnel this year. Best offensive mind in the country without a doubt.

Doubt it because the SEC is giving us the same schedule they usually reserve for Alabama. Most or all the tough games at home, a neutral site game against Louisville in the Georgia Dome, and play Kentucky from the east

probably pass the ball?

like when he's had to pass the ball before...like 2007 when his Tulsa offense was number 3 in the nation in passing...or 2008 when it was number 7 in the nation in passing

ETA oh and they lead the nation in total offense both seasons...this offense is gonna be scary through the air

Did you see what he did with Chris Todd in 2009. Todd was hurt prior to the season and couldn't throw a pass more the 15 yards with any accuracy. Todd broke AU passing records that year. Johnson has an NFL arm and he can run with more power than Marshall. Look for AU to pass the ball like Tulsa did when Gus's Offense lead the country in passing.

I would bet anyone 1 gazillion dollars that we throw it more.

What are you talking about? Someone asks what a coach who has been in this situation multiple times before is going to do when this situation arrives again. The obvious answer is that he's going to do what he's done before.

Inherent in questions like this are a lack of understanding about what Gus does/has done/wants to do.

We're going to hand the ball to Jovon Robinson, let Jeremy sling it all over the field, and win football games, hopefully.

Will y'all have a Tulsa defense as well?!?!

That was neither funny, or clever

Tulsa's DC probably could have had us in the Playoff this year.

What do you want Auburn fans to say? If Sammie or Duke either one come back next year, I would take Auburn's offense over Alabama's.

Come on bro really?

How many times has this thread been done already? Plenty of history to show that he alters the offense to fit the personnel. he goes for the best players he can and then builds the offense around the players available.

This has been asked over and over here. You know this though.

you return all 4 losses on your schedule and you must think there is a huge difference between uk and usce right now... other than uk actually beat usce this season. i'm not amazed you once again don't know wtf you're talking about

Don't worry, auburn will have another QB by next season.

There is still plenty of time to save another misunderstood opposing sec player from facing the consequences of their own bad decisions/behavior.

Yeah but we play teams like Alabama at home next year and we would have beaten you by 30 points in Jordan Hare this year given your offenses penchant for only scoring 10 or 12 points in road games

SEC Teams breaking in NEW QBs next year:
AL, AU, Ole Miss, UGA,USC
SEC Teams that have returning QB, but haven't proven anything:
TN,A&M, Mizzou, KY, UF, LSU
SEC Teams that have returning QBs that suck:
ARK, Vandy
SEC Teams that have a proven returning QB:
Miss ST.

Who ever finds a good QB next year will be in the Conversation. Those who do not, will be average at best.

They'll probably have to scheme a little more to compensate for the change in style, but there shouldn't be too much difference in the option game. More physical, direct runs than some of the stuff Marshall could do cutting out and turning the corner.

The yards will come, they recruit RBs well enough so the QB/RB can benefit off each other.

Question is if he can deliver as a passer. He has shown great ability so far, but in small sample sizes. It will make everything run much easier if he lives up to the billing.

Too bad they may lose their top 3 guys at WR, getting even one back would be big for Auburn. Bray could have been in for a big year if he wasn't a senior...

If Duke and Sammie leave we are gonna be pretty bad.
