Why don't we pooch every time then? Our goal should be the same. Put them in the worst possible position. According to you, that implies a pooch/squib.
So for you, if richt didn't frick up the squib today, he fricked up every other kick and 95% of the kicks in his tenure

How in the world did you take my comments to mean that the pooch kick is the optimal call on every kick-off opportunity?
With less than 20 seconds left in the game against an offense that struggles to pick up huge chunks of yards at a time (especially one who has struggled to throw the ball against your defense), it was a good call. Obviously the outcome wasn't what we wanted, but I blame the defense more than the ST call.
If we had a kicker who could boot the ball out of the back of the end zone, I think we would have kicked it deep and gone with a touch back, and I would have supported that.
