What's the story behind LSU fans and corndogs?

Where did that originate? I mean, I know LSU fans stink and they suck, but how did they ever become tied with corndogs?

LSU fans are a strange bunch. There is a segment of their fanbase that act and look like carnival workers aka carnies. The corndog is the staple food of the carnival/county fair. It has nothing to do with LSU fans actually eating corndogs but is a gentle reminder that they have a large segment of circus freaks amongst them.
