I really want to believe that's exactly what it is because my biggest fear is there is the bad stuff going on behind close doors ala Chizik.
But if this is the case, should it concern us as fans that the coaching staff doesn't know how to motivate players or is it because the majority of these players are Chizik era players who have a different mentality?

Another question: did this team buy too much into the "team of destiny" last season and perhaps didn't work hard enough feeling like they had a security blanket?

This is the part that I absolutely don't buy. I could maybe understand the bad fit because of Chizik-era schemes, but not mentality.
These coaches got so much credit for changing the mentality of the team last year, but now we're changing our minds? They've had these players for almost 2 full years now.

After all the crap with Dyer, he let him come to state with him and then he screwed up again and had to leave. We have the story of JW and his issues/doghouse/return, and as much as I love Nick Marshall and see promise in Trigga Trey, it looks like Gus may be ok with some kids who have had problems and wants to let them redeem themselves. Not that there is anything wrong with that; none at all. But does that attitude lead to kids who think they can scrimp on their responsibilities knowing that they can get a second or third chance?
