Plenty. You don't commit 4 turnovers and still win a game without dominating the other team. I'm fine with saying LSU Got dominated by state even though the score was close.

Which doesn't take away from what I said, but okay.

winning by 24 going into the 4th quarter.
Do points matter or not matter? If they matter then they simply only won by 6. So you cant say that the final score wasnt indicative in one breath, and then use the score at a random point in the game to make your point in another

The only thing in this thread that's wrong is "Ole miss would've beat AU if not for the injury". There was plenty of time for a high powered offense to score. Even a FG would've tied it.

Clearly the answer to speculative thinking is more speculative thinking.

They definitely matter, I wasn't using a random point in the game. I was using the first three quarters, which is the majority of the game. Not a hard concept. Even though LSU dominated the 4th quarter, they themselves were dominated for the first 3, meaning that they were dominated for the majority of the game.

So yeah, I can.

If H2H does not matter why do we award the winner of the championship game the trophy?

I agree 1000% the best team does not always win for whatever reason. Its like Baseball, Basketball. They play multiple times to determine the Champion and who is actually the best over the long run. Sure the better team could still lose more but having multiple games gives you lots of real data of who the best team actually is.

However, in Football if you only play once the winner should be the higher ranked team if they have the same record. They earned that tiebreaker IMO. They won on the field.

You scored a TD with 4 minutes left to get the lead. You were never up 20+ points on them like State was with LSU. Big difference.

That's not true.

It very probably is. Notre Dames only loss is to the #1 team and it was razor thin. They win out (beating Top-10 Arizona St eliminating them).. they're definitely in. They're certainly in over the SEC #2

KState will probably drop a game.. they play TCU, WVU, Baylor, and Kansas as the remaining games. If TCU takes care of business they are almost definitely in considering they are #7 with a top-10 team left on their schedule (and 4ish ranked wins). If KState runs the table they are definitely in, only loss to top-5 Auburn, and 3 ranked teams left on the schdule.

Michigan St plays ranked Ohio St next and if they win the conference.. they're the logical choice.

If Arizona St beats top-10 Notre Dame and somehow runs the table beating a ranked Arizona team to close out their season.. another easy choice.

Those 5 teams.. they're fighting over the last two spots. If 4 of them drop a game (at least 2 have to, they play each other) then we might see the SEC runner up sneak in.

Every team in the country would be screaming if they beat someone, had the same record and was ranked behind the team they beat. Miss fans were screaming last week there was no way you could rank Bama ahead of them because they won. I agree Bama did not deserve to be ranked ahead last week.

My point is we were saying the score doesnt necessarily point towards how the flow of the game was. I agree Miss St beat us worse then 6 points shows, just like I feel we beat OM worse then 3 points shows. I think that is fair to say

Don't be that guy.

You're right. When you look at all the games you can tell who has been playing better up until this point.

Disagree to an extent. I still think you can use objective reasoning if two teams have the same record.

Ole Miss and Bama was a little different. LSU looked bad on two different occasions. Committee will get it right if LSU wins this weekend, likely putting them at #9 or so.

The Ole Miss game was much closer than y'all are wanting to believe. LSU won and deservedly so, but Ole Miss could have won that game had a play or two gone their way.

The reasoning y'all are using would be like UM fans claiming they should have been ranked ahead of y'all last year since they won the head to head. Have to look at the whole picture and not just one game.
