Nonetheless, I'm grateful for the life he breathed into a program that was decimated by years of underachieving with Houston Nutt.

With one caveat.. did he, or did he not leave us in a bigger mess than HDN did? this is the difficult part for me. We were in shambles following the Petrino debacle and smiley the clowns interim with the team. I mean dirt bag poor.

He raised us up a bit, and dropped us harder than I even could possibly have imagined.

Totally agree.

Petrino far and away left us in a worse situation than Nutt did - Petrino should have gone to a bowl in year 1 and did get to a bowl in year 2 and was an officiating screwjob at Florida from winning 9 games with that team.

Bert has a much better coaching staff and turned in the worst record in history in year 1 with the thinnest, most talent-deficient team we've ever fielded, and it's an uphill climb to have an outside shot at making a bowl game in year 2.

Nutt sucks then and now, but anyone who thinks Petrino's dumpster fire isn't worse needs their head checked.
