If it was any other rule, I could follow you and agree with you. But if you're Gurley, and someone offers you $x to just simply write your name, and you're not breaking any laws, and you know hundreds of other guys have easily gotten away with doing the same thing in the past, why should he or how was he supposed to say no?

I completely understand the temptation, especially for these guys are are in their teens or early 20's, and especially for those who don't come from money and don't have much financial support, if any. I really do get that.

But rules are rules. If you don't agree with them, try to get them changed. But as long as they exist, you have to abide by them or risk the penalties that may come from getting caught.

As far as character is concerned, he should have done the right thing regardless of the temptation, even if the rule was "stupid". He may have done what just about any other kid his age would do, but it wasn't the right thing. I am personally disappointed in him, since I perceived him to be better than that. I was wrong.
