How did I not know TI was involved in getting Cam in trouble. And TI is Blake Sims uncle, so he is probably an Alabama booster right? Dannnnnnnnnng

quote:

Newton Receiving Benefits from 3rd Parties-Stories of Cam receiving benefits from 3rd parties continue to swirl, most recently with his relationship with Clifford Harris. Cam was photographed in the VIP area of a Posh Night Club in Atlanta after the SECCG. The Opera is one of a couple with ownership ties to Ti. Harris has been repeatedly portrayed as “misunderstood” by Bishop Long, yet during the propaganda blast, Harris was arrested for attempting to buy 3 machine guns, two silencers, and enough ammunition to defend Grenada from another coup attempt. The media campaign also included public speaking at a local elementary school, as well as feeding the homeless during the holidays. Isn’t it ironic that Cam was reported in the media as performing exactly the same compassionate acts of kindness? I am in no way making light of these acts of kindness; rather, I question the coincidental nature and sincerity of both Harris and Newton. My point is there seems to be something more than just a childhood friend relationship; rather someone has initiated a preemptive media blitzkrieg if it is later found that Cam had knowledge of, or was involved in some sort of P4P. The coincidences with Harris, the ties to Long by both Harris and Cecil, and the propaganda marketing campaign help make the rumors of Harris holding a Range Rover in storage for Cam until after the Championship much more believable.

While I am enjoying reading all the gumps get their panties in a wad about getting called out, I am going to have to disagree with you about the med grads. Undergrad affiliations are way stronger than grad school or med school.

True, but the UAB Hospital employees many graduates of other schools who are attracked to UAs success. They support UA, mainly due to lack of a local alternative. I know a local Doctor who has a bama vanity tag with Hookem Horns (UT Grad). That type of scenario is common.

I don't think we'll ever compete with cities like Atlanta but I do think we have a chance to carve out our own unique niche.

Yea, that is what I always try to tell my friends from school who always want to compare things in Birmingham to Atlanta. Atlanta and Birmingham shouldn't be compared (both for good and bad things). They aren't similar places.

Birmingham should strive to be like Nashville, Raleigh and other mid sized places that have their own identities. They already had a nice urban core that is being fixed up (stadium was great addition), good food, great music scene, old neighborhoods with good bones that are starting to be made nice. There is stuff to work with there for sure.

The best thing they have done is hire Bill Clark. Guy can coach. But I agree, they need everyday facilities to be up to par first. Then worry about things like stadiums.

I agree. Only problem is, stadium, practice facilities, or no stadium, he'll be gone in 2 years for a better job. Some of these delusional pro-UAB folks and Aubies (who, let's face it, if Bama is against it they are for it) try to act like Jimbo would still be at UA if not for Big Brother Bama. Any reasonable person who isn't a troll would know better.

So a Texas grad is financially supporting Alabama athletics just because he lives and works in Birmingham?

That's pretty dumb.

international soccer matches

Atlanta's getting an MLS team if I'm not mistaken and I'm hopeful Birmingham could end up with one creating a nice regional rivalry along with tapping into the growing Hispanic market and overall interest in Soccer.

I swear if I were an OT Baller, I would start an MLS team myself. I really think it's going to be big here in the next couple of years

Just trust him, the doctors that went to UA undergrad and UAB medical school are just salivating at the chance to drop UA and become full on UAB donors.

I wouldn't say it would make them full on UAB donors, but some UAB MD's could start donating a fraction that that would have donated to Bama to UAB. However, the actions of the BOT that I have read about are just plain sleazy and not surprising considering the Gump football mindset.

Yep - we are getting an MLS team in 2017 that will play in the new Stadium. I'm not even a soccer person but I am pretty excited about it.

At the very least Birmingham should have a lower level team (Atlanta has a NASL team now).

Birmingham's problem with professional teams of any level is that they have really limited corporate sponsors. Just aren't a whole lot of really big Fortune 500 companies willing to support them.

We really missed out with the banking industry essentially collapsing. AmSouth, SoutTrust, and yes Colonial Bank among others were all headquartered in either Birmingham or nearby. That's why I think the med boom could be big for the city. It will bring back some of those major corporations or at worse create a lot of smaller, more successful companies.

Louisiana is trying to get in on the med boom as well. The new biomed district in nola opens next year and they are trying to start one in BR as well. We also have that LNG and OT plant workers.

This doesn't involve the University of Alabama in any way.

The Board is over all the programs, which isn't relevant to SEC discussion.

It like discussing and Aubun Montgomery decision.

LMAO.
