Oh, I wouldn't travel to Legion Field or to a new stadium on UAB campus in downtown B'ham either. Just wouldn't leave my pad in Mountainbrook to go watch the UAB Blazers play ball ~ no thanks.

I would say that is the exception and not the norm. This is the first incident of violence I've heard of connected with the games in a long time. The Classic is the only big event held at Legion Field aside from the Bowl game and the City typically does all they can to ensure the event is family friendly and safe.

It's actually growing in national attention and is one of the few HBCU Classics that appears to be thriving. You can ask the Louisiana crowd about the struggle of the Bayou Classic which used to be "THE" marquee game

Seems to me like you're more pissed that Jimbo Fisher didn't end up at UAB more than anything else.
I could only wonder why. Could it have something to do with the fact that auburn lost to him and Florida State last year?

Don't care about that.

Captain dumbfrick has me pissed because he is trying to spin the blocking of the hire as a financial move.

Liars piss me off. He knows good and well that is bullshite, yet he is saying it because he has decided it is the company line he has to tow.

Cause Bama knew they could only hire Saban if he got Jimbo then Jimbo would be Bama coach in 3 years when Saban left for Cowboys/Texas/USC.

Duh
No, it's because Little Bear made some racial remarks in 1989 and he hates UAB

Brookies going to games for UAB would not be there norm, whether they built a new stadium or not.

Seriously dude? Looking at the economy the past 7-8 yrs ~ why in the world would anyone agree to pour millions into a program that #1 Can't even sustain its own athletic program and #2 Has such poor fan support that their own contibutions have fallen off $1.2 million in the last 8 yrs?

Strictly from a financial standpoint, it makes no logical sense for the BOT to support a new UAB stadium when their own fans/students can't find the motivation to show up and watch their team play. It will take some special UAB alumni to pony up not only the money, but the commitment to go and put their asses in the seats. How many UAB alum will travel to watch UAB?

Do not be a dumbass. Most Schools Football Programs are losing money. There are a ton of studies out there (try Google), that show the marketing and economic impact of a good Athletic Program. Even when the bottomline of the athletic budget is in the red.

bullshite. Your arse started by discrediting the first source I posted stating the UAT board blocked the hire intentionally.
ATTENTION!! ATTENTION!!

Several years ago the UA BOT (headed by Paul Bryant, Jr.) blocked the hiring of JIMBO FISHER as head coach of the UAB Blazer's football team.

The BOT would not allow UAB to hire JIMBO!

Now, which senario has worked out best? The UAB Football program? OR The head coach of the reigning BCSNC team that kicked Auburn's arse in the championship game?

Just the train of thought that got the Georgia Board of Regents into the Georgia State Football sinkhole.

Some Aubies believe deep in their heart that the only reason Bama is better than them is because of cheating and conspiracies. They actually believe this.

TnM is one of these nuts

It's not for them. They can afford to go wherever they want.

One thing that I'll give the Bell administration credit for is that they've stopped trying to cater to the OtM crowd as to what is best for Birmingham and have moved forward with city improvement projects.

For all the naysayers that dismissed Regions Field, who do you think have been the most frequent attendants? Same thing with the Entertainment District. Seems like it's a case of, "If you build they will come (but lie about it in public".

Majority of young people want to live, work and "play" in an urban environment. Our generation doesn't want to live in a suburb, work in a suburban office complex, eat at Applebee's and go home to our all white neighborhood.

Birmingham and Atlanta have both done a good job building on that.
