In the SECCG? Yeah we did. And it helped us win the national title.
To you USCe,
We aren't the best team this year so your point is irrelevant.

We manhandled an Arkansas team that took all you had to come out with a W. Go blow that smoke somewhere else.

not to mention the 2 co-leaders in the west this past weekend:
-sloppily won against KENTUCKY in a game that was relatively close
-lost to LSU and looked really damn bad doing it
I see no reason why we couldnt' finish in the top 3 of that division.

I wish they would take the top two teams, regardless of location and allow them to play for the conference championship
+1

The problem with that is that the Iron Bowl is often these two teams. Neither AU or Bama would want to play again the next week.
haha dude really? Last year was the first time that the Iron Bowl ever decided the SEC west and it probably won't this year. Auburn still has to survive OM and Bama still has to survive LSU and MSU. I think it is a safe bet to say that one of the teams in the Iron Bowl will have 2 SEC losses and not be in contention.

Lol, don't group Auburn and Alabama in the same category.

Can't have CG without divisions.

should we have done away with it in the 90s when the east was clearly better than the west?
yes. A division less SECCG would mean the 2 best teams in the conference duking it out.

Yes. If you want the 2 best teams to play in the NCG, then surely the 2 best SEC teams should play in the SECCG. And yes, all SEC teams should rotate through a balanced SEC schedule regardless of traditional rivalries. If rivals want to maintain their seasonal play, they can schedule with each other outside the regular 8 game SEC rotation in a 9th SEC game.

I know divisions are basically an NCAA mandate to have a championship game, but the idea of just a "floating" schedule with the two best teams getting to meet in the CG sounds so much better.

Since it is obvious that the SEC West is hands and feet above the East.
No, but I've said for a long, long time that the divisions should be realigned and the cross division rivals eliminated. Given the lack of parity between the divisions this year, it makes my case stronger.
The ONLY reason the cross division rivals exist is to protect two games: Alabama vs Tennessee and Auburn vs UGA. The reason the divisions are aligned the way they are is to preserve the iron bowl. By moving Alabama and Auburn to the east, and Missouri and Vandy to the west, you can eliminate the cross division rivals AND keep all of the truly important rivalry games. It's always been a case of "unbalanced power" in the divisions, but if this year is a look into the future, it wouldn't be.
The other plus side is that all of the teams would get to play each other every 4 years.

I like the idea of going to a pod system when the conferences eventually expand to 16. Cluster teams in groups of 4, promoting regional rivalries. This will then free up the teams to play a greater variety of conference opponents.

So you're going ahead and penciling in a loss in Athens? Smart move.
