Pretty crappy call on the PAT 1st OT, too. Technically, I suppose it is a foul and OSU probably would have scored from the 25 anyway but in OT and all, let the teams decide who wins.

Here is a link to the third quarter of the Auburn-MSU game. The flag against Dak, that was picked up, happens at about the 24 minute mark of the video.

They show the refs kind of standing around with the referee clearly speaking into his headset....but all of the refs are wearing headsets. Could they just be talking to each other?

on the UT game I was wondering what it was taking them so long to argue this and what they were listening too. NS was the same on the sideline as you could read his lips.

I don't think they ever showed a replay of the PF, either.

oh yeah I forgot about that, is that even valid? since when can you accept the play result and still benefit from the defensive penalty?

I'm assuming nobody on here was watching Ohio State v Penn State, but if we are gonna talk about refs helping the favorite win, I gotta mention it. Penn State got HOSED by the replay official.

Was 100% the wrong call. If they were trying to help OSU, I figured they would have waited til the 4th quarter in a close game. It was so blatant i don't think anyone could have messed up the call though

APPARENTLY the feed was screwed up and they could only see the over the top view. Isn't there an argument that "the officials are seeing the same views you are at home?" If they were, then they should have seen OSU's S didn't get that INT.

I don't know. It wasn't dead ball. Not sure. The ref even said that the penalty would be assessed against PSU and they would get the ball on the 40 which would have been after OSU took their shot first in 2OT. How stupid is that? They did, though, assess the penalty on the next play with OSU getting the ball on the 12 1/2.

No clue

I knew it wouldn't be assessed on PSU's possession though, since OSU had one first. What if PSU got a fumble recovery for a score on OSU's first play after the penalty....the penalty never gets enforced?

Interesting stuff to think about for sure

To me, considering the game went into OT, the refs blowing the clock expiring on the FG that the Buckeyes made was a huge non call getting no national exposure. The game announcers showed it a couple of times & the clock ran well past the "0" showing on the screen. Take away that FG and Penn St. wins in regulation, assuming it was not made on the next play with a 5 yrds added on.

The White Hat is checking with the BJ and SJ to make sure the QB was outside the tackle box. He's SUPPOSED to get input from other officials when it's a close play.

I remember thinking it was strange they were taking so long but my assumption was they were checking to see if the guy threw a punch or something. Though in hindsight I have no clue if that is allowed in CFB, and I don't think that is what they were doing.

It's BS. If they could talk to someone off the field on a little headset or other device, they wouldn't have to go to the sidelines to get a separate headset to talk to the replay official.

It definitely looks like he is talking/listening to someone in his headset but like you said, all the refs have headsets so that they can talk to each other.

Here's the video set to start when it gets interesting.

The Alabama-Tennessee example is just strange. If they were participating in this strange, massive coverup why would they decide to only implement it on a random personal foul midway through the 1st quarter of an already lopsided looking 13-0 game with Alabama getting the ball back.

I'm not saying it isn't happening, but to imply it has something to do with helping the league's good teams is just weird.

What exactly was to gain in the MSU-Auburn game? It isn't like they were keeping a team in the playoff race. Either team wins and they are ranked in the top 2 or 3.

That's also assuming play calls stay exactly the same for the rest of the game, which they may or may not. You call a different game up 7-0 vs. 10-0 or 0-0. I agree both calls were awful (if the clock was shown and it wasn't just ESPN's bottom clock screwed up which is possible too), but if there is any consolation they were in the first half and weren't backbreakers at the end of the game

No excuses for screwing it up in the first place of course
