wouldn't be surprised to see Bauta get some snaps regardless. Kind of a Wild Dawg set but with more of a threat to pass, as well.
Why in the world would we even want to do this?
If we're gonna do any type of "Wild Dawg" formation Bauta will not be the one taking that snap. Like Gator said it would Todd or Sony getting the ball.
I guess Bauta is the Dawg de jour this year on the DR...just like Brendan Douglass was last year.

question about Saturdays game..
It's a reasonable and interesting question but I don't think it happens unless Mason is injured or at least shaken-up. Mason seems to have confidence and command of the offense so I'm not expecting this scenario vs Tennessee.

Because he offers a passing threat in addition to being a runner

The only way HM gets pulled is if he is injured.
Whatever UT decides to do defensively, Bobo should have the solution for.
Mason's job is to execute. To date he has mostly done that. If he doesn't throw a pick against UT, we win.
I still believe he has greater capacity than he has shown. I do wish he had our best receivers at his disposal. I know that would help.

Yea, that was a bummer. At least we have 2007. Hate Tebow was at UF during the Georgia's descent.

Ok, so we're basically going lineup with a "Wild Dawg" formation with Bauta back ther because he gives us an option to pass? Huh?
Really? so we're gonna run the formation when/where? On the goal line? And run the
Tim Tebow jump pass play?
The whole idea of this formation (call it what ever you want) is to basically outnumber the defense with blockers and find a seam in the defense or just basically outrun the OLB or CB's to the corner. UT's D-line is not it's stength but they have plenty of team speed with their OLB and CB's.
Once again, the whole premise makes no sense especially with a 3rd team QB in a big conference game.

Guess we should tell all those teams that run similar formations and plays that they're wrong

What teams? Honostly, not a whole bunch of teams even running the wildcat these days and it's a very simple offense. We're not talking about a spread option here.
If they're teams out there running multiple plays and sets out of this basic formation I'm not aware of it.

It's not the wildcat I am referring to really. Several teams still do run it, though. For the life of me I can't remember who but a big game this past weekend had a team that would go to it for short yardage. The team that comes to mind for me, though, is Oklahoma.
They had Blake Bell who was their starting QB last year until he got hurt and lost out to Knight. He's pretty similar to Bauta, probably bigger, but very similar in style of play. Even when they had Landry Jones down in the redzone or sometimes short yardage they'd trot out the "Belldozer" and go from there.
It's not something I think anyone thinks is completely necessary but it could be an added wrinkle. Georgia could incorporate jet sweep fakes with Michel/IMac, a read option threat with Gurley/any RB and Bauta, and the threat of pass. Mason isn't much a run threat (he's not Greene slow but it's still not much of a threat) and with Bauta in you have a physical runner. Each play would make the defense think that much harder. A read option with an actual QB threat, the threat of a PA pass, and a tough guy who can go up the middle.
Like I said, Georgia doesn't need to do this but I wouldn't be dismissive of what it could potentially provide.
Here are some highlights of Bell. Ignore the plays he has outside of the Red Zone.
Also note these plays were all while Landry Jones was their starter.

You never know...not really what I was thinking about myself but it never hurts to add a new wrinkle...

I disagree. It often hurts to try this type of stuff. Not saying it WOULD, just that it does hurt.
Secondly, we don't need this shite. Our offense is not having issues....
Rare kicking mishaps and a shite Defense performance is the only reason we lose games

OP-
Richt wouldnt just bench him.
He'd give Will Friend the signal and next play Pyke would accidentally take out Mason's knee.
So Mason could sit down in a respectable way. Because Richt respects him.
