as much as i wish Bama`s program would implode they have clearly been the best program in college football the last five years with three natty`s,but who would be number 2?

candidates i can think of

1. FSU 1 BCS and a current No.1 ranking
2, Oregon consistently winning 10 or more a year
3. Auburn with 1 BCS and 1 appearance but there was 2012
4, LSU consistent 10 wins and a BCS appearance. also a conference title

FSU isn't even a top 5 team.

From taking the temperature of tRant this week, I'd say it's probably Mississippi State.

Your question is not clear. Are you asking about right now or over the last 5 years?

Auburn

I'm shocked... shocked that you put Auburn in the top 3.

Since you mentioned "last 5 years" in your OP, I would say Oregon should be #2 purely based on winning percentage and ability to media whore.

Alabama, Boise State and Oregon have a much better winning percentage over the last 5 years than any other schools. Clearly Boise is playing inferior competition. Some will argue that about Oregon but I think they've done enough against OOC schools to back up that rate of winning. They just couldn't close the deal against Auburn.

Auburn is #20 in winning percentage the last 5 years. FSU is #10. Bama is #1 by 3 percentage points.

I'd definitely say Auburn with two Natty appearances. But they were sandwiched around one complete shitshow of a season.

Last 5 years? (2009-2013)

Let's go by win pct. in major conferences

1:Alabama 60-7 - 3 national titles
2:Oregon 57-9 - 1 title game appearance
3:LSU 54-12 - 1 title game appearance
4:Ohio State 53-12
5:Stanford 52-13

Oregon. FSU still has a ways to go. Auburn is still not even close. A&M might be better ran then Auburn right now.

Either Oregon or LSU if we're taking into account the entirety of the last 5 years or so.

FSU: Absolutely not. They play in a crap conference and usually shite the bed against someone in the ACC that they should blow out. 1 NC doesn't erase that.

Oregon: Consistent, yes. But winning 10 games a year consistently doesn't mean quite as much as it did in the years of the 11-game schedules and no conference championship games. You could almost plug in Boise State if you're using this rationale.

Auburn: 2011 and 2012 knocks you guys out. As does Chizik's dental smock.

LSU: You know...this might be the candidate to qualify as the #2 program even though they haven't won a NC since '07. Either LSU or Stanford, maybe.

Auburn's debacle in 2012 precludes them from contention for 5 year best program consideration. A best program doesn't have a season with zero SEC wins.

I would say LSU due to a relatively recent NC in 2007, SECC's in '07 and 2011 and solid consistency over the last 5 years.
