This is what is missing from our offense evident in championship offenses and make no mistake this is going to become more prevalent in the NFL. You need only look at the success of the Sea Hawks with Russell Wilson at the helm to confirm

We'll see. The QB battle this offseason should be a good one to follow. We haven't had one in a good while. I think that Ramsey and Bauta have put themselves in good position to be that guy.

Bobo likes to stick with the traditional pro-style offense where we run with RBs and pass with QBs and try not to mix it up too much. In that system, Ramsey is a better fit.

I like the duel-threat aspect of Bauta, though. I think we need to get with the times and offer something different at the QB position. If we have a lights-out, NFL-caliber pocket-passing QB who lives and breathes in the pocket, then let's continue down that road. But if we don't but we have someone who can be effective on the ground and through the air, I think we ought to consider switching things up a bit.

Bauta's got the heart, and I bet the other players are pulling for him to win it next year. He would be perfect for that read-option offense like Spurrier ran with Shaw.

Ramsey is a poser

One of these days I really do want to start a blog and I have one friend who writes who may join me. I also want durden to understand that I was being dead serious about starting up a duo for it.

I tend to agree. Bauta running a hurry up with a heavy dose of read option could be fun to watch. I just worry that Bauta is more of a jack of all trades, master of none. Idk if he just has wheels and a decent arm or if he is a runner than can pass enough. The latter works but only if you run AU's offense.

I mean we have those who hate Bobo and those who worship the guy and I'll likely be in the middle. I think Bobo trying to change our offense to suit Bauta would be painful to watch. I also think that Bauta can't truly flourish in what we have. I think Bobo would have an easier time trying to mold a quicker running QB than a power guy like Bauta.

I mean, seriously, can yall imagine what Bobo would create if Bauta was the guy?

I can imagine if the offense had a voice...

Bottom line is that Mason gives us the best chance to win this year....but since he's going to be gone next year we need to work some reps in for both of these guys. If for no other reason than to have a competent back up should Mason go down in a big game.

We don't need the first game these guys see a top tier SEC defense to be next year in the opener...against who? Bama?

I don't like frequent QB substitutions or QB by committee.....but would much rather do that this year trying to get young guys reps to build for the future than next year trying to figure out which of the inexperienced QB's will hurt us less.

somewhat agree but I mean this is 2014, we're playing for this year, not next year. Every goal we have is still on the table..you don't jeopardize that simply to get a guy some reps. Ramsey/Bauta should only play this year if the game is no longer in question.

Bauta looks better to me at this point, mostly because he sees the field a little better. Park looked better to me in the spring game than Ramsey did but you can't really tell what's what in those games. Well I can't.

I agree with this. If we lose the next two conference games, by all means start giving the other guys meaningful snaps. Until then, let's not screw with things. Mason has done what he has needed to do so far this season to help us reach our long-term goals. Until the SECCG is out of the picture, I don't think we should give up on him for the sake of next year.

Mason - 3 games, zero interceptions.

That is why he is starting and will continue to start.

If he starts throwing picks, we'll see the other two start getting quality minutes. Highly unlikely, though because Mason is very safe with the ball in his hands.

This. He's solid. Nothing special, just solid. With our backfield that should be enough to score 30+ - which should be enough to win if the defense pulls their weight.

As far as the Bauta V. Ramsey debate goes, I just hope one of them gets some reps in the UT game.

Yep, Mason has been good enough to win every game so far but with our defense we are going to need more than solid to beat the better teams. This is why I still think we will lose probably 2 more games: to Auburn and one more we don't expect.

I predicted the loss to SCAR and am also predicting a loss at Mizzou. If we win at Mizzou look for trouble at Arkansas.

I actually think we beat Auburn at home but it will be a nail biter from start to finish.

Prolly 60%-70% of the FB teams in the nation would be very happy to have Mason. You can say a lot about CMR & Bobo but they always seem to have a good to great QB every year. It's comforting to be able to bitch about who's better between the #2 & #3 QB's...

shite, even in the "bad" years we have a Joe Cox who threw 25td's, even tho he played with a dead arm all year & had like 14 int's he still beat (with a lotta help from the RB's) GT in their best year since '90 & put up 8 W's...

I doubt this. Park looked like a great pro-style prospect but if he had been outstanding he would have played in the 2nd half of the Troy game. It's going to be either Ramsey or Bauta unless something drastic happens between now and next season.

I think Park has all the physical tools he needs, and more, to be a star QB in the SEC.

The only question is what he has between the ears. That's it.

Same with Ramsey, for that matter. Ramsey will star if he can play the position smart.

Awesome statement. You won't have to go far back to find folks advocating pulling Murray for Mason.
