Another thing to consider relating to the OP is that we're comparing a first year DC in his 2nd game here, so a 4th year DC with all of his recruits on the roster.

That's a solid point. And the most physically talented kids in the bunch transeferred to other schools - voluntary or otherwise. Pruitt will probably end up being a solid hire. Saying the defense is awful right now is a fair assessment but it should improve. Hopefully.
