Morality is simply a code that identifies right and wrong action. The code, itself, can be different from person to person as each individual has their own belief in what is right and what is wrong.
What is important (to me) is the basis for a particular moral code. I believe the Biblical morality was influential in the overall restraint seen prior to the 60's, and as Baby Boomers rejected the traditional moral code of their parents and adopted a more hedonistic approach, things got worse, as I see it.
Instead of "love others as you love yourself", the battle cry of people today it is "love yourself". You can see the changes that resulted in embracing selfishness.
There has always been evil in the world, but I believe the acceptance of it (and redefining it as "good") has been on the rise for the past half century.
