Right... but don't you have another QB who would have benefited by getting some playing time in actual game environment?

He'll have about 6 quarters to do that in the next 3 games.

Go back and listen to what he had to say on the subject when he was at Florida.

All of this. Spurrier deserves it every single time someone has the opportunity.

Well, considering A&M milked the clock instead of running up the score, as others have said, I guess you don't have anything to complain about.

Jesus Christ.

That was a 17 play drive that ate up 10 fricking minutes of the clock with NO POINTS.

A&M's last drive was 10 minutes long.

Sumlin put in the backups, other than QB, and ran the ball continuously. He called off the dogs and milked out the clock.

Then at the very end he ran it right up the gut instead of throwing it to avoid scoring again.

We could have scored two more times if we'd wanted to. He showed SCAR a LOT of mercy.

That last drive where he went for it on fourth down twice? That's your mercy? It's not like your defense couldn't have got some backups playing time as well...

I'm completely aware that we got stomped by a better A&M team on Thursday... but late in the fourth quarter with a huge lead Sumlin kept calling passing plays going for the end zone. He was going for it on fourth down several times. His entire starting offense was in there for the whole game. Even when he has a freshman QB that could have gotten valuable experience against an SEC defense (of sorts). Is this going to be the new norm?

Probably. Everybody will try to make a HUGE impression with impressive victories.

As others have pointed out, however, Spurrier has been known to do the same to a few schools in the past....one being Georgia. Not sure if he has done it at South Carolina or not. I DID see where you put 52 points up against Arkansas last season and 70 against Ittybitty U. Looks like Spurrier is getting a little dose of his own medicine.

This would be my guess. I still find him to be the most entertaining coach in college football, though.

Man, I hate what you're going through. We went through it last year. It's no fun, I know.

1- A&M could have scored 75 or more if they wanted to.

2-HBC didn't care whether we lost by 21 or 42. He saw the product on the field and knew it was inferior to his competition.

3-He admitted so, took it like a man, and gave A&M all the credit.

OP, Sumlin didn't even run up the score. You picked the wrong game to bitch about running up the score and you are simply coming across as a poor loser.

The game could have been much worse if Sumlin tried to run up the score in my opinion.

are you trolling?

do you realize you are completely wrong on this?

you even said A&M threw to the endzone several times on that last drive which is 100% flat out false.

So basically you wanted the ball back to have a chance to score another garbage time TD to make the loss look a little better? No thanks, we are fighting an uphill battle on the perception game as it is (at least with regards to defense)

You wanna know how to stop Sumlin from running up the score?

Don't be down by 24 points to begin with.

We kick a field goal... we are running it up.

We punt the ball... and South Carolina is chunking passes down the field trying to score a meaningless TD.

You know, there is a way to keep someone from running up the score, it is called stopping them with your D.

Never seen anyone complain about someone running up the score when no points were scored after the 12 minute mark of the 4th.

Richt is the one that tried to run up the score on Clemson. First down with less than a minute and they are pitching the ball. If you want to get a sore pussy, then start with Georgia.

Eh.. I might have been in a stupor at the time and mixed it up. I definitely haven't had the motivation to re-watch it yet. So, forgive me Aggs... Sumlin's a stand-up guy and I'm an idiot...
