Only Mississippi State and Florida gave up less than 13 points

Florida didn't play.

Looking at upcoming schedules, the only ones whose scoring defense average are likely to go UP before their next SEC opponent instead of down are:

Mississippi State - won't shut out 3 teams
Florida - still has to play a team before Kentucky
Missouri - Toledo and UCF are better than SDSU
Kentucky - Ohio will score more than 14

Why less than 13?


we scored exactly 13 and the lone TD came in garbage time.

They beat Kent State 17-14 on a late FG. So we'll see. Stoops played a lot of 2nd and 3rd string guys in the late 1st/2nd half so it's probably not out of the realm of possibility.
