Definitely, but to that I say Sims hasn't beaten out Coker with. Seems like it's still a tie and Sims has the most experience with this team.

Reading Saban's comments, I still think Coker is being groomed to take over as soon as possible.

But, TO ME, it looks like he's going to be used while Coker gets settled in and wins the job from him. I do, however, agree that Sims will still get playing time and special packages. I also wouldn't be surprised to see him on the sidelines in some capacity next year.

I mean really? where have you ever seen this happen...? You haven't. Ever. The back up is the back up for a reason... to think Blake is only starting until Coker gets ready is just dumb football... and you should know better...

Unless Blake really sucks out there you won't see any rotation or half and half or every other quarter.. Blake will play much of the whole game and until he really struggles or it's a blowout Coker won't get in.

That's true it's a tie and one will have to seperate themselves in game action. That's how it normally works in a QB competition though, the guy with the most experience gets the nod until he proves otherwise. Tomorrow, tomorrow though can't wait

Coker may very well take over, but reading CNS comments it sounded as if right now he hasn't beat Blake out

No, but it also sounds like he expects him to do so.

He was doing it this morning on the Score Board too. He's got some sort of personal interest in Sims starting.

Apparently we all have to share the same opinion. Like I said before I will have a great laugh on here (already called Sims starting) when Sims does well and isn't so quickly yanked in the next games like some of you are predicting.

Where have I ever seen what happen? A more experienced QB start the year while a new guy learns the system? Um..... most schools? You've never seen that?

What are you talking about? I don't know nor have I said how much or when the substitutions will take place. Coker will play vs. WVU. And, I'm pretty sure, Saban would like him to develop and take over the starting job. I mean, I may be dumb, as you've suggested, but it SEEMS to my feeble mind that Saban would rather have a pro-style QB who can stretch the field to run his pro-style offense, rather than a scrambler with average (being generous) passing ability, who's shown for 3 years the tendency to panic and run when his first option isn't open.

Now, they say Sims has improved, and let's hope that carries over into games. We can win games with him. But, we can lose some too, especially if they don't make some big offensive changes to compensate for his deficiencies.

No, but all morning the guy has given the impression of someone who wants Sims to start for some personal reason.

I hope he does great. He won't be yanked for playing well. Against WVU I imagine he'll come out while Coker gets a chance to show what we can do. We've expected that for some time.

ETA: That shite just pisses me off though. It's a close battle, everyone knows it isn't over. Give them both a chance to win and support the winner. That #TeamSims and #TeamCoker shite is just stupid.

Yeah but that's not what you're talking about.

This is what you're talking about... a Coach plays the players that give him the best chance to win... but somehow you seem to assume you know what Saban is thinking... cause he's never said anything remotely like this...

You are very wrong about Sims.. he's played pretty well in every game... never threw and INT or took a sack in a game and has actually made some good plays... some of you are passing on the rhetoric of Sims being horrible and it's a lie.

Why people think Coker is the answer is still beyond me.. he's never shown the ability to even be a winner... he threw 2 pics and was taking sacks versus bethune cookman and other little schools in mop up. he holds the ball too long (took 5 sacks last year) and he's not very accurate. he's never even had an above 50% outting. Coker is a living myth at this point.

I don't think you've understood most of what I've said.

For the record, I was one of the FEW who said WAAAAY back in the spring that I wasn't sold on Coker starting. The only real surprise to me is that Sims is the one who has hung on to challenge him. I predicted it would be Bateman or Morris.

If Sims can hang onto the starting job, great. I just hope it is because he's playing well and not because everyone else sucks. But, in the 4+ years he's been here, I'VE never seen anything from him that suggested he is a great candidate to run this offense. I love his attitude. I think he has certain skills. But Bama needs an accurate passer, and he's never been that. Most of his completions have been short throws to the flat and dump offs. He can't grow taller, but if he's developed into a good downfield passer, then maybe he can hang onto the starting spot. But, if he's improved so much, Saban certainly is reluctant to hand him the job outright, despite how much everyone loves him, and how well he knows the system.

And I'd also like to add that none of what I'm saying is what I "hope" happens. I'm just saying what I think will happen. If Sims wins the job and keeps it, it's because he's earned it, and I'll be his biggest supporter. I'm just chatting about football and my opinion.

Definitely. If Sims shows up big time, there will be soooo many people telling everyone to "eat crow", when in actuality no one has crow to eat. We have doubts about both QBs, and we see glimmers of hope in both QBs. We want the best QB to win the job, no matter who that is. Whether it is Sims or Coker, I know I plan to be right there yelling the loudest and supporting whoever it is.

I know Sims can lead the offense and be productive. My only fear is that he let the moment get to big in his head and stop him from just "playing football". If he just plays within himself I think he can be good, not NFL good but good enough to win.

Stop speaking for everybody. You can only speak for yourself.

From what I've read on the internet you're far from the reality, which seems to range from "Sims sucks, why is he playing" to "Coker will start because... uh.. he has to!".

Where did you read that? Tidefans? Woollyal? Because those are hardly legit sources. Those sites are for the casuals/homers.

This forum, BOL and other forums. Just because you ignore it doesn't mean it isn't there.

BTW, BOL is as homer (can get weird up there) as any site like ever.

I don't really read BOL, so that's probably why I missed most of it.

Just another day everyone.

In case anyone needs some preparation, I'll probably be pissed that we gave up double digit points, even if we dropped 70 on em.

If I lash out at anyone tomorrow, I don't really mean it.
