I will take a shot. Coker has better pocket passer mechanics, a higher release point, a stronger arm to drive the ball on deep and outer 1/3 passes and appears to this novice to have calmer feet.

Sims is a more electric player, knows the system and the tools better and has the chemistry from time, blood sweat and tears with the team.

Decision making under fire is what will likely win the battle.

thank you, and I agree for the most part

I think the "knows the playbook" thing can get a tiny bit overblown. The verbiage may be a bit different, but pretty much all the concepts in our pb Coker knows from FSU. He probably knows more. The real growing pain stems more from lack of timing/chemistry with the offense more than not knowing the playbook.

Sims. If things are kind of equal then you should go with the guy that's been there. Sims will lead this team to 11 wins this year.

can you expound on this? Is it because of his size?

Yes, size, and better arm. Basically, he can throw a football. This is assuming he's reasonably accurate, which is a bit of a leap of faith at this point. But, I've seen a lot more of Sims, and on top of lacking the first two things I mentioned, he's also not accurate. If Sims has any advantage, it's the fact that he should know the playbook and the players well.

Saban will not put up w/ turnovers or bad decisions, so it will come down to the guy that screws up the least within the first three games.

I'm not saying that Saban thinks the same way I do, but just giving my opinion. To me, if it's truly equal, I go with the younger player. More upside that way.

There is NO chance Coker starts over Simms, Saban is too loyal to seniors who have kept their nose clean, and especially when nobody else is proving they're better...Coker might play but he will not start.

Why go after top wide receiver prospects if you aren't going to use them?

Eh? I didn't mean to only give it to Henry and never pass.

Was just my way to say I think Henry is going to be one of those once in a generation type players and I hope he gets the ball early and often.

Ok. If by "NO" chance, you mean about a 75% chance, then, yeah, I agree.

I could tell by the tone of his text that is exactly what he meant.

and he will make awful decisions at least 10x a game.....ALTHOUGH Coker could be in that same boat.

Love Sims because he has given his all to Bama . That said I know what he can do .Hes an average QB with good wheels .

I just dont see how Coker isnt better . I dont think he would be here if not . Meaning I dont think he wouldve chosen UA ,dont think Saban wouldve actively pursued him ....and if he went toe to toe with probably the best QB in the country (minus the rape and crab legs).Hes our man!

He has to earn it so that the team accepts him as their leader and QB. Both will get pt to leave no doubt.Which will allow Coker to go to war with his team mates .Thus forming a bond and solidifying him as our qb.

Knowing the playbook shouldnt be an issue. Its the little things where just getting here puts you behind.

So Coker starts UF game and hopefully Sims is rewarded with a lot of snaps. I think Saban is making it seem a little closer than it is and knows who the starter will be.

The best player will play. In 2011, it was clear to me that McCarron was that best player, going all the way back to fall practice.

This year it's not as clean cut IMO.

You need to read the article that I quoted yesterday. Brian Vogler, one of our TEs, was here for the 2011 QB race as well as the one going on at the present time. He said the better QB in that race was clear from the start. The 2014 race isn't so clear in his opinion.

Not to be a dick, but do you really think a current player would really say anything but that right now?

I trust Vogler at his word.
