While I think we all can agree that we want the best man to win the job and will support Saban's decision, who do you honestly think will win the job? Whether it is, Before WVU, after WVU, before Florida, or even tomorrow.

No need to go into detail about co-starters because its almost assumed they will be going through weeks 1-3 until Florida.

In the end, who are you picking? Not who you are with. Sims is a great team player and most want him to be the QB for support reasons. Who do you think will win the job honestly, not who you want to win it. Team Coker or Team Sims?

Just a fun little game to see where everyone stands and see what the percentages are.

I will say, my gut says that Coker wins the job, but Sims will not only get a package, but will come in as a read option QB and a change of pace in regular formation. Sometimes getting his own drive and sometimes just for a play.

Coker takes 90 percent of snaps in the end.

My vote: Jake Coker

Around the same prognosis and reasoning. I think in the end instead of sims getting his fair share of snaps, he may lineup as a decoy at WR for double passes and stuff like that. Not as much getting his own drive. That would kinda screw with the offensive game plan I think.

Coker gets my vote. Easy

This.

Well, Sims will start the opener. He's earned that right, no matter how camp went/how practice goes from here. I don't know how they rotate vs WVU. Every drive seems too much. Every two drives seems like a good spot. I think AJ/PSims was every three drives. I don't think Saban is a "you play this half or quarter, you play the other" type guy.

But I ultimately think Coker wins the job. Even if Sims has improved as much as we think, he's never going to be a true pro style QB, and we're not changing our identity for one year. Ultimately you get more upside out of Coker. He could be back next year, and if the light ever comes on he could be something else.

I think this is a little wrong. Team Coker or Team Sims implies that you want one to win over the other. I don't care who wins, I just wanna see dominate Ws.

Whichever QB hands the ball to Henry the most. That one gets my vote.

I went to the A-day game was was underimpressed with Sims' performance. I try to keep in mind that he was facing probably the best defense in the nation, had a limited set of plays and was unable to scramble and make plays on his feet without being "tagged" or "sacked".

Coker seems to have all the physical attributes you want in a QB. He has a large learning curve (new playbook, new receivers) and a relatively short time to get comfortable to the point that he is simply "reacting" and not overthinking things.

I believe the players want nothing more than to win. If they see either Sims or Coker contributing on the field and separating themselves as far as being productive (not turning the ball over and completing passes), then they will have the team's support. The good news is that we have 3 relatively easy games to "warm up" with before we get into the meat of our schedule.

I fully expect our defense to look very solid against WVU, FAU and USM. If the OL can limit the pressure on the QB and the running game can pick up some good 1st down and 2nd down yardage, I feel that both QBs will gain confidence and experience to be successful.

Personally, I'm kind of pulling for Coker as he'll have 2 years to play and contribute. Sims should be better than he is as a 5th year senior and he simply didn't show it at A-day. I'd like Sims to be a change of pace QB to run the base offense, but also make the defense respect his running ability.

The good news is we get to watch it all unfold soon... very soon!

A package with Coker at QB and Sims at RB would be interesting. Sims could run, or you could toss to Sims and run a pass with him.

But Saban would never get that creative.

The last time we tried something like that it likely cost us the game (LSU '11)

If you are advocating a two QB position, played all year, I hope you're wrong. I want whoever's going to be the best. I don't care who it is.

Why go after top wide receiver prospects if you aren't going to use them?

Sims has been so loyal to the program. If all things are equal, I don't see how you can't root for him.

I honestly believe Coker will be our starting QB sooner than later. Yeah, they both will get an opportunity but I think Coker wins out.

I agree IF things are equal. But, I just don't think they are. Coker seems like a much better fit for our pro-style offense. If Coker gets the mental side of it, I think he wins the job easily.

can you expound on this? Is it because of his size?

I want the best QB to win, but I'm hoping Sims turns out to be the best QB. Having said that, with Kiffin on board, I feel pretty confident that Coker will eventually win the job. If Kiffin wasn't hired, I'd think it would be closer. That isn't to say I don't think we will see some snaps for Sims throughout the season. Obviously they're different types of players, but I could see something similar to what we saw in Florida with Leak and Tebow. Blake could see some snaps on 3rd/4th and short and some snaps in the red zone.

I will take a shot. Coker has better pocket passer mechanics, a higher release point, a stronger arm to drive the ball on deep and outer 1/3 passes and appears to this novice to have calmer feet.

Sims is a more electric player, knows the system and the tools better and has the chemistry from time, blood sweat and tears with the team.

Decision making under fire is what will likely win the battle.

One big factor in all of this is deep passing. Kiffin likes throwing the ball down the field, Saban keeps talking about explosive plays, the WRs are working on more double moves, it all sort of gives Coker an advantage.

I think Coker is a better quarterback. I think sims will be better at being the quarterback for Alabama this year. Due to this, I've gotta think sims gets the nod.

He knows the playbook, and he has the respect of his teammates. As long as he doesn't make bone head decisions (he might) then he'll be the starter.

Believe me when I say Saban would prefer to name a full time starter sooner rather than later. It's detrimental to the team to split reps when they could all be going to the starter.
