Would you guys go to Athens without a ticket with intent to go the game?

That's the situation I'm facing now. My wife has got a ticket from her grandfather. I HAVE to go, dammit. But not for 200-300 dollars. I heard you can find tickets before the game especially on the bridge right before kick-off.
Just wondering how diligent, or how patient I will have to be. I don't want to miss the pregame stuff but if I have to I will to find a decently priced ticket.

I'm in a similar situation. My friend and his sister got tickets and I'm going with them but so far no ticket.
I'm thinking of going to the bridge or just going to a bar downtown to watch it.

Go to Athens and if it works out, great. If not, you can do much, much worse than to watch it with thousands of other UGA fans downtown.

I want to go to the South Carolina game but I'm in a similar situation. I want to spend like $60-70. But it's an away game and I'm not sure what the prices will be.

Go and tickets will emerge...we had friends show up late for the LSU game last year (one of the toughest tickets in years) and they got two in the end zone next to the students for $150....there are always tickets available and most fans just want rid of them....the scalpers on the other hand are trying to get paid. Worse case scenario is you wind up in a bar or at a tailgate with direct tv....

I got an lsu Uga ticket in 2009 for $100, 40 yd line, about 25 rows up. If I can find a deal like that decked out in lsu gear, surely you can do the same

One word...Tailgate! Tickets are great but there is some to be said about a good tailgate!

Not gonna read all the replies but I'll tell you that randomly coming across extra tickets in Athens isn't like it used to be.
First of all, the counterfeiters are much more sophisticated than they used to be. Don't buy from a scalper. Secondly, they'll often use scalping to launder counterfeit money. They will take your $100 bill for a $65 ticket and give you $35 in change in counterfiet bills. You won't even notice because you are inspecting your ticket.
Just don't bother with scalpers on the street.
If you just need 1 ticket and don't give a shite what section you are in, you are likely to get lucky.
Don't bother with the bridge. That's where everyone has their fingers in the air. Try to get your ticket before you even start walking that direction.
Personally, I go on Stub Hub and pick them up at the Tate Center. Sure, they are marked up a little, and there is a convenience fee, but if you add in the cost of what the donations are and being forced to buy tickets for all the shite games, then divide that back out for the games you actually want to see, the prices on Stub Hub actually aren't bad at all.

Hell yes, I was planning that until the DD backed out. If you have the patience, wait until after you hear the Gooooooooo Dawgs, Sic em woof woof of the kickoff and walk up to a scalper and name your price. Did that for an Auburn game some years back. Gotta have patience and forgo the kickoff.

Tell your wife to put on something cute and stand on the bridge right before kick-off. You should be able to get tickets for a reasonable price.
