The expansion looks like shite. They should have kept the canopy above the entire upper deck.

really? it's that bad? is that a first hand observation, did you see it at fan day or are you going by pictures on the web?

Personally I don't think it looks great, but it's not bad either, so far of what I've seen of the outside it looks really good, while the inside(field view) doesn't really look much different than before, just a new enclosed level with a new deck on top of it.

Just curious, what about it do you think looks so bad?

I agree with the sentiment of keeping the canopy over the entire upper deck. I think that would have looked better. At the same time, I think the new renovations make it look better than what it was without them.

COLUMBIA, Mo. • The scrimmage ends with a Marvin Zanders interception to Thomas Wilson. I'll post some stats and more notes and news ASAP.

Time for the 2-minute drill. Maty Mauk opened with a 40-yard strike down the sideline to Bud Sasser, followed by Sasser's snag along the sideline for another first down. But on third down, a 14-yard TD pass to Marcus Murphy across the middle was waved off when Mauk was ruled down in the backfield when a defender tagged him on the leg. The offense settled for a field goal.

Just when the scrimmage hit an offensive lull, Maty Mauk found Jimmie Hunt for a touchdown pass, about 25 yards or so. A nice catch with a defender in the vicinity.

Corbin Berkstresser, running the No. 2 offense, found some momentum with back-to-back completions to slot receiver Gavin Otte, but the drive stalled two plays later.

Neither backup quarterback seems to be distancing himself from the other. The front four continues to put pressure on the pocket. Harold Brantley and Josh Augusta have made a living in the backfield.

Maty Mauk rifled a pass down the sideline to Wesley Leftwich, who burst down the sideline for a 48-yard gain. Perched in the red zone, Mauk couldn't do much from there. He fired incomplete from the 15 to the goal line then settled for a dump off to Ish Witter on third and 7, setting up Witter for a nasty collision along the sideline from Kenya Dennis. Cornerback Kenya Dennis intercepted a wobbly deep ball from Maty Mauk intended for Darius White down the sideline. Three plays earlier Mauk and Russell Hansbrough mishandled an exchange in the backfield. Not a pretty drive for the No. 1 offense against the No. 2 defense.

Missouri's front four just dominated a series against the No. 2 offensive line. Markus Golden with a tipped Eddie Printz at the line. Harold Brantley with a pressure up the middle. Charles Harris with a sack around the right edge. Lucas Vincent dropped Tyler Hunt for a 2-yard loss then chased Printz down up the middle for a sack. Printz didn't have much time to breathe much less complete passes on that drive.

Freshman TB Trevon Walters is returning punts. Looks like he could be the alternative to Marcus Murphy for that role. Cornerbacks John Gibson and Aarion Penton are returning kickoffs as well as freshman receiver Lawrence Lee.

The scrimmage begins from the 2-yard line, as always, and Russell Hansbrough ripped off a 15-yard run on third-and-short. Left tackle Mitch Morse came up gimpy after the play but appears to be fine on the sideline. The No. 1 offense opens with a 76-yard touchdown drive, finished off with a 25-yard TD run by walk-on TB Tyler Hunt.

Good morning, live from Memorial Stadium. Mizzou is about to start its first scrimmage of the preseason. Check back here for updates throughout the morning. A handful of players will sit out today’s scrimmage: DT Matt Hoch, LBs Donavin Newsom and Grant Jones, SS Braylon Webb, FS Cortland Browning, RT Connor McGovern, TB Morgan Steward and WR Eric Laurent.

Sounds like the DLine is going to be straight nasty this year. White doesn't sound like he did much with the offense, Sasser and Hunt showing up however.

that upper deck looks worthless in person. the outside is a marked upgrade, no doubt and the added luxury suites are nice.

Having said that, this was just about luxury suites and since that IS the case they did it all wrong. They should have just made a tower of luxury suites that went straight up from the existing east side stands like a press box. Then, wrap that all the way around the south and connect to the west side press box. It would look bad arse and enclose it while making it louder and looking much better without some dainty pointless upper deck. Look up pictures of Lambeau or Doak Campbell to see what I'm picturing. Or even boone pickens stadium for that matter.

He caught a few passes. I'm more curious why White only had 1 reception, he's supposed to be the big play guy this year.

Looks like Mauk had a pretty decent day, though I understand the offense stalled out on occasions. No separation whatsoever between Berk and Printz. Zanders actually looks to have had a good day.

Looks like they gave both of the young guys a legitimate shot in terms of carries. Both seemed to have taken advantage of it too. Slight edge to Walters running the ball. Slight edge to Witter receiving it.

As for the receivers, seems Sasser and Hunt will be the mainstays, no surprise. What is disappointing is that White still seems to be a non-factor. The upside is seeing the young guys jumping right in and the TE was used a lot more in the passing game.

Thanks for that. Had not read that anywhere and would explain it. Saw Otte had an ankle today.

Anyone concerned about Baggett missing from 32 and 34 today? 3-5 overall.

Kicker always concerns me.

Won't get too hyped on Zanders having a good day throwing today. Printz looked phenomenal going against the 3s and 4s last year and has struggled at times against the 1s and 2s this year. I imagine the same will be for Zanders.

Thanks for the Brown update. 4 for 37 is a good day when it seems like the ball was so spread out. In terms of year 1 production this could be the best class Mizzou has had because some Frosh will actually have/get to play. Looks like Brown and Lee are locks for playing time. Walters appear to be in the mix for some return duty at minimum.

Thomas Richard seems to have had a good day as well. Surprising that Blair had no stats. Any word if he's nursing injury or just a matter of not enough balls to go around? Would love to see numbers on numbers of drops too. Know that's probably asking for too much, but 4/47 with 4 drops is different than 4/47 with no drops IMO.

no, because if we are relying on Baggett to make every mid-long range FG, we aren't going to win every time. Just like last year. It's a bad idea to believe you are going to make all those if you try very many at all.

Wolfert probably could have made them all, but we don't have Wolfert any more. One of the things I noticed last year that was different was that Henson/Pinkel were slightly more willing to go for it on 4 and short in our half of the field. It's a risk/reward factor that can be considerable.

All you have to do is look at what SCar did last year in the 4th quarter going for it on nearly every 4th down. Maybe, just maybe, Pinkel is starting to see that his love for "playing it safe" really isn't always the best way to win a game.

what little I've seen of Witter from Hudl and snippets of his practice drills at camp, remind me of Josey-like speed and Murphy-like moves, if he can stay healthy, works hard, etc, etc, the sky's pretty much the limit for him.

well it says 4-37 in the scrimmage, maybe not dunkin donuts but not grit biscuits either!

seems that way, D-Line U. anyone? also is it possible that we have another LB take a page out of the Marcus Golden book and play some DE? Ruise maybe gets on the field more by moving up to the line where he could be more useful.

good interviews from todays (wed 8/13) practice, at the end Ricker really goes into some depth about coaching the OL.

Mauk apparently singled out Lee and Brown as guys he expects to be the playmakers this year.

Sounds like a rough morning for the offense at todays scrimmage. Believe Mauk was 8/22? Few drops, but was not mentioned to my knowledge who had the drops. Berk had better numbers, albeit against the 2s and 3s. Believe Penton and Wingo both had an INT.
