I think this Ricker hire may work out, based on the camp reports we are already seeing positive changes to the OL, and it was already a pretty good line to start with..

Harris’ teammates have raved about his energy and work ethic, especially Hoch. “He’s a monster. He’s got one of the best motors I’ve ever seen,” Hoch said. “His work ethic is legit. It’s the best work ethic I’ve seen in … a long time. He’s always asking me, ‘Hey, Hoch, what can I do to get better? How do I need use my hands for this move? What do I need to do?’ … He’s always asking me to help in some way because he knows he’s going to have to contribute this year, because we need him at defensive end. He’s going to be a heck of a player."

Another Mizzou Made story right there, the job that this coaching staff does with under evaluated talent is incredible to me, and they get no credit for it, blows me away.

Sound like there's gonna be a couple of nice surprises on d. Sounds like Newsom is the real deal as well.

Good to hear.

Pretty good Matter article on Harris and how the staff found out about him. Same coach that put them onto Aldon put them onto Harris.

This is the kind of story that gets me excited about Missouri's sometimes unorthodox recruiting.

Would be great in my view to recruit one no star/2 star like Harris for every Big Shel and Kony( 2 x four or five stars) we get, that would be a good ratio to build a NC team.

Kids like this are great to take a chance on but the chance of them panning out vs a Sheldon/Kony are still massively lower. Landing BecknerJr would be huge for this class and help get us there, lets hope this team can put together back to back great seasons in the SEC and finally turn this corner.

I could read about this kid all day long. I already find myself having to stop myself and tell myself...he's just a freshman, redshirt freshman but still a freshman. If we have him 4 years, from the sounds of it, it could be some real enjoyment.

That was a great article.

Thanks for posting them, Reedus. And to all the posters.

Morrison article, mostly about injuries. Steward out with a sprained hip, but no further damage per MRI. Anyone getting nervous yet about McGovern's injury? Keeps saying he's good and will be back soon but that's all I keep hearing and next thing you know, game 1 is here.

Unless they're flat out wrong about or being deceptive about the severity, then no, not worried at this point.

Remember Marvin Foster? He had a severe torn pectoral I believe, and it hampered him for half the season. If they're right about this being a minor torn muscle then it will be good around the predicted time frame, and as Conner said in his interview, as long as you don't try to rush it and short circuit the healing process, you should be good real soon.

Even if he isn't ready on time, if we see no spate of injuries at OL, we have good depth in both older and younger players there, so it's not like him missing a game or 2 would be a real threat to our OL down the SEC stretch. Might get some other guys ready even sooner and wind up a disguise blessing, we seem to be set with the next generation of OL kids already.

I'm wondering of the move of Crawford from the DLine to the OLine was a bit of a panic move, after Gill didn't pan out and we wound up with only 2 OL's in that class, or if they simply project him being a better chance of being better and going pro from that side of the ball. Regardless, he, Abeln, Rhodes, Williams and now Adams, Pendleton, Fairchild, and Bauer, I really like what that group looks like.

I could be dead wrong, but my impression was that Crawford saw himself behind way too many guys on the defensive side. Would he still be behind guys on the OL? Obviously. But maybe he felt he had a quicker route to playing time there and asked for it? Dunno.

I'd be curious to know if Fairchild has put on any weight. The staff sure seems high on him and have read nothing but good things. 275 seems just a tad on the light side would be my only concern.

well I think he came in around 260, so has put on 15 already over the summer, good start. But I think he has a long enough frame, 6'5" or 6'6", to go over 290 relatively easy, without having to go on a "bulk up" diet, like Mad Max.. that helps, and I think the staff saw that in him.
