Sounding like the talk of getting the RB's more involved in the passing game has more to do with Murphy possibly playing at WR when not in as RB. I suspect he'll still get his carries, but seems the staff is concerned enough with the depletion at WR that he's been working out with the WR's too.

ETA - And that excites me to think about.

Matter article on first day

quote:

“With our running back depth, two-thirds of the time he’s on the sideline — or half or very close to,” Pinkel said. “We’d rather have him on the field. He can catch well. This allows us to look at a lot different things. There’s a lot of different ways to get your best players on the field. At times he’s one of our top players on the perimeter. The neat thing about our offense is you can do that. And he’s got the ability, too.”

Hey coach!!! You sure you didn't mean QB depth and talking about Zanders?

quote:

* Four of MU’s five freshman offensive linemen went through their first practice. Here’s what positions they appear to playing as of now: Andy Bauer (right guard), Paul Adams (left tackle), Kevin Pendleton (left tackle) and Sam Bailey (right tackle). Mike Fairchild, at left tackle, participated in spring drills and looks like he could already be getting some second-team work behind senior co-captain Morse.

Whoever talked about Fairchild having a shot sounds right on.

Morrison has to be the best MU beat writer we have ever had. This guy is fantastic, especially his twitter.

I dont have the link to it but they asked Singleton last night about Frosh WR Nate Brown and he said Brown is "The real deal." Thinks Nate will make an impact this year.

hello.

Yea kept re watching his film to figure out why he was rated only a 2 star, result...
no reason what-so-ever, bad job by rivals.

Glad to see Bauer NOT in a red pullover,, per Gary, if they aren't wearing the pullover they're ready to go live.

Seeing Fairchild at the #2 line would still be kinda insane considering the returning depth we have though. My guess is he'll still likely redshirt barring injuries, still a really solid group of young guys coming in is good to see.

Check out #2 Natty Brown: LINK

looks ready to make plays.

Mauk said he remembered only 2 incompletions with the 1st offense during practice today, both his fault. He wants to be at 70-75% in games.

Yea I was a little surprised Pinkel was so up front about looking at playing freshmen receivers, didn't really think he would come out and just let it rip like that.
