It seems that currently Emmert & the NCAA have much more important shite to worry about than shady recruiting... lawsuits, the Power 5 breaking away etc...

Les Miles and his staff is the only staff in the SEC that I can think of that recruits with full honesty and integrity.

Freeze's staff cheats out of love.

I just don't see it. If Arkansas was cheating, I'd expect our recruiting to be higher. If Kentucky were cheating, I'd expect their recruiting to be higher.
If we were going to cheat, why don't we ever have one of those Ole Miss type recruiting epiphanies? Oh, all of the sudden we're landing multiple 5 star guys out of nowhere. Ho hum.

The Franklin move on Josh Dawson was a dick move.
I do hope we beat him and Georgia additionally for his remaining 3 years anyway.

I'm actually going to give an honest answer here. While I can't speak for the assistants, I have no problem believing that Miles at LSU, Saban at Bama, and Richt at UGA base their recruiting pitches on how they can benefit the recruit, letting their respective programs' football reputation speak for themselves. I honestly doubt Miles and Saban especially bother much with negative recruiting. They'd consider it beneath them, not so much because they're inherently moral but because they've had enough success to possess that touch of justified arrogance that would make them shy away from relying on bashing other schools.
I'd say the same about Spurrier, but I have trouble believing he doesn't get off a few zingers even when he doesn't actually feel the need to do so. He's a talker.

I doubt any head coach cheats, that's why you have a fall man.

Well, Saban just lets Kirby go negative for him.

I have no idea, which is why I clarified that I can't speak for the assistants. I'm sure all HCs, even the most upstanding, positive-sell ones, have an assistant or two who'll get their hands dirty with the seamier side of negative recruiting.

Probably a little excessive. He was a schmoozer, to be sure, and certainly a bit of an a-hole, but I don't think he was actually sleazier than the average younger HC trying to connect with high school players.

NO.
The SEC has the well deserved reputation for "creativity" in recruiting. It is proud of it ("if you ain't cheatin' you ain't tryin'"). Remember the laughter when the BIG coaches were crying and whining about Urban and his staff's methods and SEC type of recruiting?

I mean, we're no Ole Miss, but we're not completely clean.

It's a well-known fact that SCAR, and (the) Spurrier(s), run the cleanest recruiting program, not just in the SEC but in the entire country, if not the entire world.

As long as schools and the NCAA are stealing from the players

Mizzou and Gary Pinkel. There's never any hint of scandal and the staff is upfront with the kids about what position they plan on using them-which has cost them some recruits over the years.
