I assume you mean they don't cheat in football, but obviously cheat in basketball.

they used to be massive cheaters in football, the basketball team put a stop to that, they didn't like sharing the attention.

I don't think Auburn University cheats. I think they have the same problem all colleges have. Boosters! Somebody that wants to be a Bigshot.

This is actually a legitimate point. Most (but not all) of the truly serious allegations against major programs nowadays tend not to involve actual school employees, and I can buy that most (but not all) major programs make an effort not to cheat and wish their boosters would tone it down a bit. I seriously doubt that a nationally-prominent program nowadays would risk doing anything as overt as they used to do back in the wild-n-wooly days before the modern modern era of football (which I'm going to arbitrarily define as approximately pre-Internet.) The risks are simply too great, and the dissemination of information by the hordes of amateur snoops is too difficult to suppress. I think lots of genuinely conscientious programs have been hit because of activities they honestly didn't know were occurring. The last major program I think unequivocally screwed up all on their own was Ohio State, not because of the actions of the players, but because Head Honkey In Charge Tressel made a conscious effort to conceal what would otherwise have been a high secondary violation.
