We are a scholarship lottery state so the state is still funding in-state kids more than out of state.
I'm not sure what this means. I know Bama and Auburn (and I believe LSU) are offering TX kids in-state tuition so their states are at least subsidizing.
Besides the fact that some may stay (which I agree), there is an ancillary benefit to Arkansas in that it improves the quality of your grads which improves rankings which generates more applications and prestige. It's not all one-sided and I didn't mean to imply that it was, simply that there are more facets to this than simply X then Y.

The scholarship lottery means just about any Arkansas kid who qualifies for admission to Arkansas is going to get between 2500-5000 bucks per semester in automatic assistance from the state. The requirements for receiving the scholarship money are lower than our admission requirements.
Arkansas does the in-state tuition thing for TX kids, too, but only for the top kids. If a kid has a 3.7 and a good ACT/SAT, he can qualify. A kid who has less credentials might still get into school here but will pay out of state.
I've talked to lots of kids who were left looking at Lubbock, and Fayetteville was an easy choice to make.

You must mean scholarship incentives for top students from Texas. I was about to say give me link bc Auburn has profited a tremendous amount from out of state tuition. The only reason our campus doesn't look like its stuck in the 1970s is bc of out of state tuition $.
