The crystal football was perfect and shouldn't have been touched. Morons gonna moron.
Also, when players drop this, it won't be near as funny.
Use it for one year and then go back to what everyone loves. Unless they're still doing multiple trophies...but I don't know why there would still be multiple trophies now that we have a "playoff"... Just stick to one trophy.

pretty positive the crystal ball isn't going anywhere. they're still going to award it to the champion of the coach's poll. the crystal ball trophy pre-dates the BCS

It's a trophy. It's not bad. Not sure what more I could expect. No gold and silver trophy would live up to the crystal ball.

I was just adding a thought about that when you posted this. That's good to hear. I don't think this trophy is necessary when every player is dying to hold the crystal football.

Teams will still get a crystal ball, it will just be in a separate ceremony some date after the game.

I like the new trophy better than the Crystal Football (That was less trophy and something pretty), less fragile... The Lombardi is the best by far...

I actually just got pretty pissed. Seeing the champion delicately hold up the crystal ball and/or kiss seems so right. Whatever the frick is gonna be done with this seems so wrong

this thread had me thinking of other ncaa championship trophies. really starnge to me that the women's bball trophy looks infinitely better than the generic ncaa trophy mens bball uses that is the same for every other sport outside football

exactly. since it's inception in 1992, the crystal ball has become pretty iconic.

So I did a little researching and apparently the crystal football will now be sponsored by Amway instead of Dr. Pepper and will not be considered the official championship trophy of the college football playoff (as already mentioned). The comments were funny. Someone asked if the trophy would be shaped like a pyramid (pyramid scheme). Another person asked if Avon was not interested.
Too many different groups try to be relevant in college football and the NCAA seems to like it that way. You got the AP, coaches, this new committee and this official trophy that some old farts thought up probably without consultation from anyone outside of the wine and cheese country club. I don't think it's awful, but come on...
But anyway, I guess we'll make room for a few anyway in the LSU trophy case...

Looks like something an actor or musician would win. Just doesn't have that "team sport championship trophy" look to me. Should have kept the crystal football. Greatest trophy known to man.

The base makes it look cheap. Maybe it looks nicer in person, in pictures it looks like shite

They will change it within 2 years because everyone wioll mention it looks like a vagina. They will not like that image for the coveted "Golden Vagina"
