No. Look at South Carolina's plan.

Auburn was firing on all cylinders. It would have taken an act of God to slow them down that day.
If you have further questions about arse whippings in SEC championship games may I direct you to the USCe board

It was pretty bad. They didn't have a great gameplan against us either. We threw screen after screen after screen in the second half and tore them up.
Don't know if it's a consistent problem or not but Arkansas' D coordinator ran a 4-3 w/ the LBs a couple yards back on 3rd/4th & 1s where we were obviously going to run it. We were 5-5 on 4th down and all 5 were converted by a run.
Eta- missed where you specified SECCG. Oh well, thank goodness for the cocksessed posters.

At least Missouri kept the game competitive for 3 quarters.

I don't know if the game plan mattered. Our linebackers were too slow to contain Marshal and Mason. Our safeties(specifically White) were terrible tacklers that were ran past multiple times. We had more pass rushing defensive linemen then run stoppers. I think most Mizzou fans would have preferred to play Alabama then Auburn, we have never done well against option offenses.

That's true. We had the lead late into the 3rd quarter and only trailed by three midway into the 4th.
That said, TigerCruise summed it up well. A bad scheme with lesser athletes at some positions.

That defense was built for the Big 12. A conference known for airing it out.
Alabama would have been a better matchup for them.

In South Carolinas defense Cam was bigger and faster than all their LBs in that game. Also SC had auburn beat at home during the regular season until Garcia got KOd and played the rest of the game cross eyed. Man when that guy went off the rails he was a major train wreck. I also remember gillmore (I think) having a terrible game at corner in the championship game. That hail Mary before the half killed Carolina. They never recovered.

The D coordinator actually had made a change at one point and we held Auburn on 1 or 2 possessions. Then he outsmarted himself and went back to what he was doing in the first half, which wasn't working one bit.
Our DE's were made to rush the passer more than stop the run. Our LB's were lacking in speed. Why he thought he could go back to what he'd been doing the first half is beyond me.

Spot on Reedus, schematically though Steck has no clue on how to scheme vs the option, ala the Navy bowl game, sure the LBers were not athletic enough but that was compounded by the fact that they were in a formation that let AU OL climb to the 2nd level at will.

We were driving down the field and an INT in the endzone by Shaw ended it.
I'm pretty sure it was Shaw.

this is the unfortunate attitude of a lot of Mizzou fans, to make excuses for poor coaching decisions after an obvious failure like the SEC title game.
at some point we will out grow this "just happy to compete" attitude but for now you can expect a lot more of this "stupidity", sorry but that's really what it is.

True.
But the very act of having to try to win the game with a last minute TD is a direct indication that USCe didn't have Auburn "beat" correct?

Same thing with the screen passes that never stopped working in the SC game.
Once DC makes a plan that's it. Doesn't matter how bad it's going or well something else is working.
Must be the ex marine in him

Look at the stats closer. Auburn was handling USCe but unable to pull away. USCe deserves the credit for fighting on. Auburn 2nd half turnovers kept it closer than it should have been. The SECCG was a better reflection of the statistical imbalance of the first game.
