The reformation came well after the crusades ended so the protestant areas of Europe were Catholic at the time.

Like I said before, I was raised as a Baptist in the heart of SC, but I've never really cared how others have chosen to worship and very light hearted about it. That meme is fricking hilarious and I wish there were more people that I could share it with that wouldn't get offended.

Baptist country is weird. You go up there and instead of the town having a church they have like a dozen. One on every corner sometimes even right next to each other. Liquor sold separately from beer and no drive thrus.
Biggest difference is Catholics keep their liquor out on the counter top and Baptist keep in 'hidden' in the cupboard.
