Louisiana wouldn't be alright...

Yeah, I can see every other state he listed being viable, but not LA

They have ports, oil pipelines, and fairly abundant food source between the coast and the western bank of the mississippi river in the northeastern corner of the state.

Pennsylvania would keep going fairly well. It would probably maintain status quo better than any other state

but they also have a lot less people to have to deal with/take care of.

New Orleans has an unemployment rate of 9%. That would only go up. A shite ton of their citizens are already on welfare. Louisiana doesn't have enough money on their own to cover that. Cue economic and political crisis.

Wouldn't that be true of most southern states though?

Care to explain? LA is the second largest producer of natural gas in the country, can grow all its own food and controls the mouth of the Ms river. I think LA would be fine.

Well yeah, but some guy was arguing how Louisiana would make it and other Southern states wouldn't

Do you realize how bad the market is for natural gas? So bad that companies are starting to burn it without use to keep the market alive

If your country was a major producer of natural gas and and was selling their refining capacity to other countries to maintain some semblance of an economy, I imagine your country would start converting to the cheap arse commodity that's plentiful within your borders.

States would definitely need to specialize in certain industries if we were to survive.

We'd hook up with either Tejas or Louisiana or both. No ports, no oil. Well, not much oil We haz livestock, and cotton and soybeans and rice.
And clean fresh water.
Pretty much everybody knows how to garden and hunt deer, so I think we'd fare ok.
