Veteran's Day is for those still serving or have served, Memorial Day is for those who sacrificed all for their country. The blending of the two has always bugged me. Sorry, I know it comes from a good place, Rig.

I've been paid for a long time to convert taxpayer money into exhaust/noise/freedom using a C-130 for the conversion process.

God Bless. and every fricking one of them has been built 10 miles from my house since the 1950's with members of my family working for Lockheed. My grandmother was secretary to the CEO of Lockheed Georgia company for a few years in the 60's and early 70's. my grandfather was a paymaster at Lockheed, and my dad worked in aircraft sales in the 70's as well.

This. I had this discussion with my daughter on Monday. She had thanked my Dad for his service, to which he said Thank You of course. But in the car headed home I took the opportunity to teach her the difference. I would never make an issue about it because ANYTIME someone wants to Thank a Veteran is okay by me.

Dad was an army officer for 38 years and he says the exact same thing

Never corrects anyone but makes a point that memorial day is for those who sacrificed for the country like you said. Veteran's day is "his day"

I'm well aware but I wouldn't say there's ever an inappropriate time to discuss military service. Should've included that in the OP
