21 years of active duty.

Met a bunch of great people.

It was a blessing.

Commissioned AU NROTC 1985, active duty 1985-92, U.S. Navy.

Processed out disabled 1992.

My son was just commissioned, AU ROTC 2nd LT, U.S. Army (Res.).

The tradition continues.

Dream was to go to the military scademy like my dad but was a medical DQ. I was in the process of getting waivers and AU offered a full ride so I jumped on the Auvurn train

Not me, but 20 something years for my dad in the green berets - Panama, Vietnam and eastern Europe.

Grandfather was WW2 in the navy. Didn't see combat action, but left AU to enroll, then finished up at AU afterwards.

Great grandfather was WW1 infanty. Got gassed and wounded in the battle of argon forest, but made it back.

Not me, but both of my sons are currently serving. My oldest is a Captain in the Marine Corps and the youngest enlisted in the Army after getting his college degree. The little one is no longer little and was promoted to SGT after completing his training and being assigned to his team. Extremely proud of both and grateful for all that served before them.

Veteran's Day is for those still serving or have served, Memorial Day is for those who sacrificed all for their country. The blending of the two has always bugged me. Sorry, I know it comes from a good place, Rig.

I've been paid for a long time to convert taxpayer money into exhaust/noise/freedom using a C-130 for the conversion process.
