At OSU, it's something insane:
Sorry, but that's chump change. If I'm driving 500 miles to an A&M game I want 50-yd line seats. Uh-oh. Between the 40's it is $15K over 5 years + $4K annually plus they're already sold out anyway! That's on the 2nd deck. First deck is MUCH more reasonable at $3K over 5 years + $2500 annually for seats between the 30's. But they're sold out, too! Either you get crappy seats or watch from your couch. I'm a no-account Aggie and opting for the couch.

I'll break it down since nobody else is giving the correct info. All schools are different. However, the amount you need to donate as a first time buyer depends on the going rate. That "going rate" is mostly determined by how many people are donating in a given year divided by how many seats are available. The number of people requesting tickets (money donated) is influenced by your pre-season hype. As you can see, there are several factors involved and the only good advice is to call your ticket office and ask them what was the bottom donation required to get season tickets the previous season and add some inflation to it. That's for the worst seats in the house. If you want better seats, start throwing money at them. You're welcome.

That's just the required donation that you have to pay for your current tickets. If this guy is not a ticket holder and looking to get tickets, the better question is what philanthropic donation must he make in order to gain the priority points necessary to purchase season tickets. This # could range from the thousands to the tens of thousands.

I will simplify it further, it is the modern equivalent of joining a country club.
A ) Large 1 time payment to join (initial donation)
B) Fairly large annual payment to keep (annual donation)
C) Cost to use (actual ticket price)
Some of the most expensive individual seats in the SEC may be UK basketball
Rupp is far smaller than any SEC football stadium
Rupp has no corporate suites
UK basketball is #1 in the country historically which keeps demand high
