No. It briefly made a comeback in 1999 when we won the SEC.

Bama's current AD nearly led UT to a national title in 1970.

Also, Peyton Manning's OC (Cutcliffe) is a Bama grad.

It's a rivalry with a lot of cross-breeding.

Kiffin has always been a bama fan. His stint at UT was to keep them down.

Then beat Bama and the Bear while coaching at UT. And our current AD is a Bammer.

I am not surprised that an LSU fan is ignorant to the meaning of rivalry.

Best two programs in the league

This, all time.

Tennessee is down, but they'll be back. Most of these other programs were nowhere.

Of course an LSU fan brings a schedule thread into this.

Being an LSU fan I know that you dont know anything about college football pre-2000 but for many, many years Alabama and UT were the two best teams in the conference.

Both are the most winningest programs in the SEC, but Tenn is a shell of their former selves and probably will not be back to the pinnacle for sometime. Tenn currently being a dumpster fire has turned the game into a rent a win for Bama, but there is still a very strong hatred between the programs.

The Alabama-Tennessee rivalry reached its peak in the early-00s. There was a lot of hatred and bad blood over the whole Albert Means thing. Once Phillip Fulmer was fired from Tennessee the rivalry kind of mellowed out a little.

But the roots of the Alabama-Tennessee rivalry go all the way back to 1901. It's our oldest, continuous rivalry as we have been playing them every year since 1928. We've only been playing Auburn continuously since 1948.
