When you only play 8 conference games a single game can make a huge difference in terms of "strength of schedule" metrics.

Every team in the SEC West plays all the other teams in the SEC West, so those games don't matter int his argument.

The key thing dragging down Alabama's SoS numbers is the fact that Tennessee has sucked so bad. If they were the Tennessee of old and a top 10-15 team, Bama would be at or near the top.

A 9 game schedule will help alievate scheduling disparities.

Wasn't that the only time in history or something a team has played #1 and #2 in a row? I swear I read that somewhere a while back on ESPN or something.

Florida had a bad record last year. They won't be like that this year.

I think I remember reading that somewhere. Also if im not mistaken last year was the only time a team played 2 separate number 1 teams.

Since that's most of the time, no worries.

Nope... playing a lineup of teams with 47% winning percentage combined is what lowers your schedule rank.

I agree. IIRC, last pre-season odds, Auburn was the dog in all but 3 games. Auburn was a dog in every SEC game. Pre-season polls/schedule rankings are as worthless as pre-season guesses on All-whateverconference teams.

You can't really use Auburn of last year to justify that statement. They brought in a new head coach and staff, a top 15 recruiting class, the top JUCO QB, and the top JUCO RB. That team was completely revamped in one offseason and that is not common.

And of course Alabama has the easiest schedule in the SEC again.
NO WAY!! They are playing an NFL caliber schedule this year! Give 'em another trophy for the win during the spring game!

You cant tell how tough a schedule is until the season is over, what if ARK. TENN. & MISS ST win 10 games each !!!

No one expexted Auburn to win 10 last year, so all SOS predictions are just guesses.

Honestly I don't see it as Alabama's fault. They can't help that UT, Arky, and WV are trash right now. There's nothing they could do about that.

All they gotta do is wait a little while, a year or two

I realize this post isn't flaming Alabama so it probably doesn't have a place in this thread, but I'm surprised Florida isn't higher, they play FSU OOC, and get LSU and Bama from the West.

Actually he says that this is the toughest schedule according to the NCAA method, but not his (Phil Steel) method.

Again this is the NCAA's method and not MINE!

That's a doubl edge sword. Arky might have a hard schedule, but ours is watered down because we have to play them.

The only teams Auburn was real underdogs to starting was Bama, LSU, UGA, and A&M. They were favored in their OOC games and the rest of the SEC games were toss ups at worst.

Don't you think you might have been considered underdogs against Missouri...preseason wise? While they were not expected to be as good as they were, they were still considered a very solid team, while Auburn was coming off what would have been considered two horrific seasons for them.

Three years ago, West Virginia and Florida would've put Bama near the top in terms of SOS.

They are the luckiest sons of bitches when it comes to scheduling.
