Yeah, I agree it is MOSTLY not Bamas fault. But Bama has always wanted to avoid Uga and uf in the east which has given them an easier sec schedule on average for decades.

I like the big games though and really want UF back on our schedule along with keeping the leghumpers.

Yeah that's why Auburn's is so low.

Oh wait...

Bama hasn't played South Carolina in while either. In terms of net effect, avoiding UGA and USCe for so long makes it kinda hard to gauge how good Bama's defense actually is.

When they played in the SEC CG in 2012, Murray displayed a level of talent that those defenders had never seen before.

Not since 2010, when they lost... Georgia hasn't gotten to play Alabama in the regular season since, what, 2008? Those have been the best two teams in the SEC East since when? Except for last year, when Mizzou won it... Yet Alabama lucked up and didn't have to play Mizzou last year, either.

They have just been very, very fortunate.

Thats why I am glad the new playoff is here. It forces them to play at least one good OOC team each year if they make it to the NC. No more cupcakes like ND and Texas without their QB.

Schedule rankings are ALWAYS worthless pre-season.

Does anyone here honestly believe Bama's schedule is easier than some Sun Belt teams?

Yeah, no.

But, again, it isn't completely Alabama's fault. I don't know why they haven't played Georgia and South Carolina in so long, but West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Penn State, and so forth...were all good teams when they were scheduled. They just couldn't hold out long enough to be the quality opponent Alabama thought they were getting originally.

If you go off of their talent verses the teams they play their SOS would still be low. Sun Belt teams play weaker teams but have a lot less talent too. Sun Belt teams are usually way outmatched in OOC games.

Part of the problem is that Bama schedules teams with offenses that they are comfortable with.

I'd like to see Bama play Oklahoma, Oregon, or Florida State.

Agreed. It gets annoying. But there isn't much we can do about it. I find it difficult to believe that Akron has a harder schedule than us.

I just don't see how Arkansas makes a bowl game this year, they'll be the underdog in 9 games.

We have played OU and FSU in home and away series this decade. Oregon would be fun. I'd love to see us schedule southern cal but they would probably back out like they did against A&M.

ETA: Well I guess not this decade but 02-03. So I don't think we get another series with OU anytime soon. And that FSU game was at a neutral site but my point still stands.

Preseason underdogs maybe, hard to predict how the whole season will play out. I'm sure Auburn was considered the underdog in 9 or 10 of their games preseason last year.

The only teams Auburn was real underdogs to starting was Bama, LSU, UGA, and A&M. They were favored in their OOC games and the rest of the SEC games were toss ups at worst.

Plus State and Ole Miss. We are talking preseason underdogs.

I agree. IIRC, last pre-season odds, Auburn was the dog in all but 3 games. Auburn was a dog in every SEC game. Pre-season polls/schedule rankings are as worthless as pre-season guesses on All-whateverconference teams.

Alabama won at Georgia in 2008 and lost to #2 ranked Florida that same year. Alabama SOS was ranked in the top 5 in 2009 with a win over #1 Florida when they won the national title that year.
