I think we lacked a top #1 but i also think there were a ton of good teams. Ole Miss would have been top 25 in more or less any other conference, so would UGA most likely.

I thought there was more parity this year but I think 2011 was tougher.

The early 40s and the late 50s are two other contenders for the strongest historical period in SEC history.
The 1970s were practically a joke. On average, the conference finished with only 2 ranked teams per year.

We would have been top 25 in this conference if we hadn't shite our pants in Starkville

Looks like the SEC makes good decisions when expanding. Otherwise the SEC would've sucked last season.

Yeah, it just took USCe 21 years to make a contribution.

In 2011 there were three good teams. The SEC has become a QB driven league. You have a chance to be good if your QB performs. Last year there were 6-7 quality QBs, in 2011 there was three.

The '90s weren't exactly LSU's glory days either.

We were top 10 in 2013 after the first month even WITH a loss. Then fortune decided to take a dump on our chest.

1983 may have been the toughest sec ever at the top. Argument can be made the sec had the top 3 teams in the country in 1983. AU, UGA, and Florida all finished top 6 and only lost too each other. Florida mopped the field and blew Miami the frick out and Miami beat Nebraska. Also, FL had one of the most loaded rosters in sec history in 83 in terms of future nfl players. Not to mention Florida was the real 1984 national champ but was on probation.
UGA's only loss was to AU. UGA beat Texas in the cotton bowl and UGA played for the 1982 NC.
Really think the sec was #1, #2, and #3 in 1983. Miami and Nebraska really aren't in the discussion for me because both played nobodies all year and FL blew Miami out in the only game Miami played against a legit team.
