I hope you see my link above.
Saw it, thanks! I couldn't find it even mentioned! You obviously are better at finding stuff!
But, nothing said it was a questionable hit, and certainly nothing said it was dirty. But that could be because the media tries to be politically correct, sometimes. What made the hit dirty? late hit? Back then, if I am not mistaken, it was not illegal to hit below the waist on crackback blocks....which is what I am guessing is what it was. You seem to remember...so I will rely on your recollection.

Dude, Brumbaugh's KNEE "collided" with Ward's helmet while Ward went low to block him.
I don't know how old you were in 1997, but I watched the game. Ward didn't accidentally hit Brumbaugh's knee on the block. He went straight for it.
Well...I am 57 now, so....
But for a long time it was not illegal to hit below the waste on crack back blocks. Probably SHOULD have been. but I don't remember when it was made illegal, so it is hard to determine.

Here is what I amtalkign about:
"Blocking below the waist is really the question at issue here. Blocking below the waist is one of those actions that is sometimes legal and sometimes not. It depends upon who does it and where it takes place, those kinds of things.
"I want to contrast this with clipping, which is a block from behind below the waist. Clipping is an action that is illegal except for a few times that it is allowed. Those few times are very rare. It's mostly close-line, initial charge blocking. It's a little more complicated than that.
"Blocking below the waist, on the other hand, is a legal block that is disallowed under certain circumstances. There's a fairly extensive list of times when it's disallowed, a growing list, by the way. It hasn't been messed around with much in the last four or five years, but it's been added to over time.

So it is really hard to tell if Ward's block on your guy was dirty or not based on what I know...

I frickin love me some Nick Fairley. Dude is one of my all time favorites.
Thank you Mr Fairley for your ability to stay classy at all times even while the opposing team was working to injure you.

Why is this still going on? Everyone except the barners think Fairley was very dirty. They deflected to Ward. Took the bait. Profit. Most auburn fans I know gladly admit Fairley was a dirty player with a shite eating grin on their faces.

I didn't want to re-enter this thread, and sadly I have to leave in about 10 minutes so won't be able to respond...but this statement is absolute idiocy.
I'm fine with all the back and forth about this that and the other...but Boss and TD were absolutely not dirty at all, in any way. I'm wondering if you just pulled 2 names out of a hat to finish out your post.

But golly gee, MR is sure a good guy!
UGA rivals are the only people who ever say this. It's quite confusing. When I lived in Alabama I heard gumps and aubies say this every week "lol at uga...yall suck, but hey Richt sure is a great man so that makes up for it RIGHT!? hahaha"
Huh? Finebaum used to use this as a little joke weekly as well. Where did that come from? Richt IS a good guy, sure. But no UGA fan I know justifies or excuses our play by saying "eh, oh well, who cares...our coach is nice". Nobody. NOt a one. Just more in a long line of bullshite spewn by our rivals.

If was an a-hole and had the same track record, would he still have a job?

Depends on the level of a-hole. Bobby Petrino level? No. Standard college coach a-hole? Probably still has a job.
