I carry 99% of the time, even on campus. Pretty much the only time I dont carry is at a sporting event or when Im drinking. Now whoever wrote this is an a-hole because I have a project due next week that I can only work on on campus. People shouldnt be scared of someone with a gun. And an illegal carry ticket is way cheaper than a funeral.

At least he isn't giving the psychos an easy place to massacre people.

And carrying a gun >>>>>>>>>>>>>> passing some stupid law only rational people will follow

in terms of effectiveness at preventing mass shootings.

I never even thought about carrying a pistol when I was at AU. It was the farthest thing from my mind. I also didn't grow up that way. Now that I'm a little older and my job requires me to travel quite a bit I have a permit and carry every time I leave home. You just never know...

I never carried until I moved to Miami. In the words of Game: I stay strapped like car seats.

not that you would know, but part of carrying is carrying every single day in the same way no matter what.

you do this so you always know exactly where it is, you always have it, etc.

its just habit and muscle memory. you don't just carry where you think you'll need it. you want to feel comfortable and normal having it on you

Well, this explains the email I got from my student advisor:

quote:

Can you please call me tomorrow or send me your telephone number. The university is closed today due to a possible threat.

Thank you,

Tina

I was wondering what she was talking about.

I am just saying that 1) it appears cowardly and 2) someone writing some dumb threat on a wall is just not a credible enough excuse for people to change their daily routine over, much less an entire university.

My thoughts exactly.

The whole thing was dumb.

Also, all of you that carry concealed/open, keep it up! You never know when you might be in a position to save a life.

I bet Va. Tech students thought the same thing. These incidents are not isolated. It can happen in a movie theater, a high school, middle school, even at an elementary school. Carrying a gun is smart in these times. I have always disagreed with that saying "you can't fix stupid".

I don't have a carrying permit yet but I plan on it in the next year. I think a lot of you would be shocked at how many people around you every day are carrying. There are too many lunatics in this world these days for my liking. So you can bte you arse I'm going to have me and my future wife and kids protected.

I disagree with those of you who said AU canceling classes was dumb. Was it ideal, no. But considering the mass stabbing that happened within the past couple of weeks and the shooting at Fort Hood, AU had to be careful. Let's face it, if the threat was real and there was a tragedy at AU, the backlash would be unbelievable.

Moving forward the police and administration will have to figure out a way to prevent sick jokes and idle threats because they can't cancel classes everytime something like this happens.
